Platform games are extremely popular, and yet the built in platform movement in both TGF and MMF isn't awfully good. It is for this reason that I have created this engine, which features:

- Pixel-perfect collisions
- Smooth parabolic jumping, with variable height (if you hold down the button)
- Moving platforms
- Springs
- Enemies killable by jumping on their heads
- Traverseable slopes
- Basic underwater movement

The main download link leads to the TGF version. If you want the MMF version then follow the link below:

See it in action in the vitalize example below:

Fast loop and collider? mmm... too bad. And to go down the slope is not that good, the player jumps. Anyway, good engine.

Problem-The fast loop extenstion won't work. Anyway, it sounds great. Too bad I can't see it. :(

CapriceVision - Not sure what your problem is. Do you have the latest version of TGF? Monkey Soft - Yeah, the slope engine takes a slightly more realistic approach, so you don't 'stick' when walking down a slope. It wouldn't be a very hard feature to add though.

Actually, I use MMF 1.2! But for some reason KCFloop.cox isn't working!

"It wouldn't be a very hard feature to add though." You could have add it, then...

"You could have add[ed] it, then..." Well I'll eventually improve the engine and add several new features sometime in the future. To be honest I just didn't think it was very important at the time (I made this several months ago). Caprice, the MMF version uses the built in fast loop. Perhaps that's only present in v1.5? The TGF version should work fine with MMF 1.2, so try that if you haven't already. If that doesn't work, then I don't know what's wrong. Cheers Jay.

I think clickteam could have replaced the old platform movement wih a engine like this one :) Anyone up for making a "platform movement object"? :D

Posted by Mr Coffee 21st January, 2004

The platform movement object already exists, Christian.:) You need MMF 1.5 to use it.

Can you make a sidescroller engine for KNP? :D

Posted by Lizard 23rd March, 2004

Got TGF but scrolling in KNP? not used for a while but I suppose you could create objects (ground or sky for example) off screen to the right. Ensure they move right to left simulating scrolling. When out of screen on left...destroy.

FrAgGy9100: Yea you can create a scrolling in KnP...doesn't work very well though. Anyways...This is a great engine! Go Arf!!!
