First, make sure you have the Xvid codec installed.
If not, you can get them here :
http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/
This game contains cinematics, it would be impossible to make it work without these codecs.

This demo version of Heatown contains 2 levels and allow only the selection of Kinon and the 1 Player mode. So don't worry if the other options are unavailable.

For the game inputs, please refer to the help section in the game menu.

Wow, this looks incredible. 44 mb though? I'll download it later.

Whoa... Looks gggreat... What a coincedence that I downloaded XviD a week ago! :) Say, is this French? Oh well, guess I'll have to do my best understanding it... :P

Posted by Zombie New Human 17th July, 2005

That's pretty. I'll check it out.

Posted by Toad 17th July, 2005

yes, i's in french. the story is about gang's war in the different districts of Heatown. I will translate the introduction tomorow.

Posted by Mr. Esch 17th July, 2005

very streets of rage, you should be making an anime series not games XD - needs more gameplay, too heavy on the graphics in comparison to the amount of gameplay. I'm always negative

Posted by Willy C 17th July, 2005

looks great. You should make an English version as well when the game is finished, as there are many peoples that dont understanding French, me for one.

Posted by Jason Orme 17th July, 2005

44MB.. its a beat em up so how can I say no. *downloads*

Posted by Jason Orme 17th July, 2005

Impressive, very impressive. Although the graphics wipe the floor with the gameplay. I hope you plan on making the shovels pickups. Aswell as the fire hydrants being like the ones in turtles, or the signs being able to be smacked into the enemies.

My best translation of the intro, although I'm no good at French: Heatown (in the city of Doirtoir?) has clans of teenagers who are warring over control of the various districts. With blows of fists, feet and shovels, the clans delimited their territories thanks to their demonstrations of force. But peace between the clans is maintained only by the imposing presence of Bouéman who is the head of a gang of robbers. If Bouéman is defeated then a new war will break out. --In an industrial park of Heatown--

Holy crap!

Posted by Liquixcat 17th July, 2005

44MB Demo....so the full version will be a cool 450?

Posted by Liquixcat 18th July, 2005

Awesome intro movie, very professional looking. You have the resolution too high, scrolling speed is taking a hit, other then that great game.

Posted by Cecilectomy 18th July, 2005

450's only like 2 hour daownload with dsl, maybe less. it took 8-1/2 min to download this so its. . . . . ding!, an hour and 45 min download. God bless the ti-83. also-awsome game but a bit laggy at times :(

Posted by Nuklear41 18th July, 2005

The legs look like crap, but the shading is excellent.

Posted by X_Sheep 18th July, 2005

Ack! Now I have that intro music stuck in my head! XD

Posted by Jason Orme 18th July, 2005

Liquixcat, maybe its your computer, as I didnt have any problems with the scrolling. As for the download, took me about 2mins.

Toad, was the style you chose for your people inspired by the Maximum Carnage games on SNES? Some of the poses look very familiar. Regardless, very good graphics. I especially like the backgrounds. Good detail.

Posted by Sashman15 18th July, 2005

lol, this game looks so phat!!! I'm a 56ker though.. :P

Posted by Toad 18th July, 2005

thanks all for your comments Shroomlock, I did'nt know the game which you speak I carried out the majority of animations starting from photographs taken with friends. exemple : http://boueteam.free.fr/images/heatown/spriting.jpg

Posted by Entropy Blaster 18th July, 2005

Congratulations, it's really impressive... The animated intro is awesome (very very professional); may I ask you which programs/software you used to develop it?

Posted by Noyb 18th July, 2005

Great graphics, and the gameplay is solid. However, the AI could be better. As it is now, you can just hold your attack button while facing the enemy, and be assured victory!

Posted by hishnak 18th July, 2005

Awsome game! some more moves and combos would be nice though

Posted by clwe 18th July, 2005

Oh man...I really wanted to like this game. Not hard to see why =P. The intro sequence is just amazing, with the amusing 'notepad' bit at the start and the wonderfully fluid animation in the fight scene. Hell, the graphics rule in general. The animation in-game - which must have taken some time, no doubt - is also convincing and fluid. Really great job on the presentation/graphical front. Unfortunately, the gameplay as it stands falls far short. To begin with, your character seems to pull off one of three attacks at random (or at least that's what it felt like). There needs to be some input buffering, so the character performs the next attack automatically if you press the button near the end of an animation. Either that, or the timing between attacks needs to be loosened, as right now you have to really mash the button to do the combo properly. I also think the enemies should also be stunned all the way through your combo - it's not fair if they're given time to strike back or move away in the middle of it. Besides that, it feels strange being able to walk straight through the enemy (and vice versa). It can lead to some confusing moments and cheap hits. I think you should either be able to grapple/throw them, or simply not be able to walk through them. The move variety and potential for experimentaiton is also quite limited in this demo, with only a basic combo and an air attack. I presume this will change for the full game, but right now it feels shallow. Despite what I've just said about how the game plays, I'm remaining optimistic that things will change and improve later on. Visually, it really knocks the socks off...well, practically everything. Which is why I want it to play as good as it looks.

Posted by clwe 18th July, 2005

...maybe I should have wrote a review instead XD

Posted by Joshua M. 18th July, 2005

I really wonder what program you used for the intro

Posted by hishnak 18th July, 2005

Its funny, If this game had crappy graphics everybody wouldn't mind the game play...but since it looks so darn good every body has these super high expectations.

Posted by Jack Galilee 19th July, 2005

cool, maybe this time, I can play something like figthing Boure, with it being released!.. instead of waiting ages and no game just a card game!

Posted by Windybeard Games 19th July, 2005

looks amazing, downloading!!

Posted by clwe 19th July, 2005

There's not denying that I *want* to see an improvement in gameplay because the graphics look ace, but that does not affect my judgement =P. I probably always have high (unfair?) expectations when it comes to how a game plays...but that's just the way I am.

Posted by Nioreh 19th July, 2005

Very short and repetetive, but amazing!

Posted by columbo borgi :C 19th July, 2005

great graphic

Posted by Nuklear41 19th July, 2005

Make it in english please.

Posted by X_Sheep 20th July, 2005

I'd play the full version even if it was entirely in French :P I can read a bit of French, so I don't mind :P

Posted by HIHI 20th July, 2005

this is just like that flash series called Xin and its good just put it in english k and we will be cool

Posted by Liquixcat 20th July, 2005

Jason Orme, It's not my computer 1.8Ghz, 512mb ram, 5200 Geforce 128mb If it's my computer, then this game has higher specs then battlefield.

Posted by Aaron Tomko 20th July, 2005

Although it has already been said quite a few times, the game looks great and you really have a defined style, but the gameplay could use more depth. This game has alot of potential and I really hope it doesn't fall into the huge chasm of games that look amazing, but put gameplay on the backburner. This is just me, but maybe if you changed the jump to a double tap of the up button and freed up the second button you could have a little more variety to the combos and such. Just a thought. Again, it looks great!

Sex me up now

Nice game, I like it. Too perfect for a starting demo, or beta version. Try to make the game more interactive. But your going in the rigth way! ;) Good luck on your production! You have cool cartoons at your web site!

Lovely intro, but has an annoying glitch which occurred the first two times I played it; sometimes a baddy can be on the floor and semi-disolved, and yet still act normally, gliding around on their back and still beating the crap out of you while seemingly invincible, thereby making it impossible to advance. Gameplay wise, I'd like to see a more intricate fighting system than just jump and attack.

Posted by Toad 23rd July, 2005

thank you with all for your attention. the final version of the play will have a gameplay much thorough: - there will be a system of combos - this system of combos will make it possible to make climb a bar of rage, this same bar will make it possible the hero to be transformed into an evolution much more powerful in a temporary way. - all the enemies will get of different behaviors, it faudrat to vary the techniques to succeed in overcoming them. - it will be possible to collect the shovels of the enemies in order to make use of it against them - the enemies will be armed better (bombs, weapons with fire, and they will have even mountings) and more diversified largely here about for the evolutions of the gameplay, and I do not speak to you about the remainder :) sorry for my english

I hate it when people make demos! when they're made with mmf of tgf there is no point, i brought a game once made with mmf. the demo was really good, and i brought the real thing at i got bored of it after half an hour.

Posted by Davide Mascolo 30th July, 2005

Like others said, technically impressive (awesome intro, great cartoony graphics) but poor gameplay so far. But since Toad assures that we will see the improvements we all hope, I'll patiently wait for the final release, regardless of its size (note: i have a 56K connection :b)

Posted by Staronic Team 31st July, 2005

I think he made the intro with Flash

Posted by Toad 7th August, 2005
