I'm making this post on behalf of someone at another forum that I visit. He's put together a set of plans for a game based on his webcomic, and needs someone to write the game and tie the supplied graphics, sound and dialogue together. If you've not got a project of your own at the moment, and are good at eventing but not necessarily spriting, this could be a great opportunity to put something together - maybe even something sellable to fans of the community if you make something decent. I've looked at a sample of his work, and unlike a lot of game proposals, the design ideas seem to be very complete.

The author's original post has an outline how the game would work:

"It plays like a conventional sidescroller. The screen stays centered on you as you move unless you reach the edge of the "map," and enemies at predefined positions spawn to attack you. One button is punch, one is kick, and one is jump; unless you're holding a gun, in which case the punch button fires. Different levels have slightly different objectives; for the most part you just run through and survive until you reach the boss, but in some levels you have to prevent a certain number of enemies from reaching someone you're protecting, or you just have to escape an area. I'm working on compiling notes on every detail of the mechanics of the game and whatnot, so if you're interested I can send you what I end up with."

I've put a small sample of the game ideas package up at http://wired.st-and.ac.uk/~wong/ndsample.zip - it has samples of the music, spritesheets and even mock-up screenshots. More of the author's artwork can be found at http://nighthawkdayhawk.comicgenesis.com/Art.html - the game art is under the "8-bit ND" section, the working title of the game.

If you're interested in working on it, or to get more details, give him an email at merlinfalcn@sbcglobal.net .
