GOTM - MAY 2009 - 3RD PLACE!
25th January, 2009 at 07:58:42 -

Would anybody buy a Click game with box/manual (basically a complete package like you'd buy from a store) if the proceeds (minus cost to produce it) went to DC? Could we create a collection of good games from the site to sell in this format?

i dont know.

first i dont know how it would work legally. unless you have the permission from all contributors of the collection, and all the works are completely free of copyrighted content.

secondly, anybody can download any create their own collections for free.

i think we need to bring the clickzine back. have a review, preview, article crew, and offer the zine as an actual printed medium for some $$. and maybe include reviewed games on a free exclusive disc.

i'd also like to see klikcast up on itunes as a video podcast.

I'd probably buy a boxed compilation of The Spirit Engine games, with a little manual of sorts. Probably would have done the same for Chaos Gate. Anything that's big enough, at a pinch maybe a Knytt Stories one but only if the CD was full of custom levels and Nifflas added a little graphic to show which ones had been completed.

Compilations one might not be too bad, like the best click platformers with MSD and all that.

A printed clickzine I wouldn't buy.

Klikcast on iTunes? That'd be hella cool and would get us more viewers.

I don't think I'd buy it. What's special about it except for the box?

What I'd like to see is a joined TDC commercial project rather than a bunch of games by random folks you could download yourself anyway.

I agree with Cecil's idea about Klikcast on Ipod. But while it sounds awesome, I don't really think anybody except us would actually watch it. Chrilley makes a good point too. While it sounds professional to simply have a game in a box and copyrighted, You might as well stick a game in a box, place it on a shelf and pick it up acting like you were going to buy it.
And Though I'm going to try and get Tormishire upon release, I honestly think you could just make your own games for no cost whatsoever.

How about making games specifically for the collection? The thing is though, they would have to be really good to make people pay for it and I doubt anyone outside the click community would even consider buying it.

I would! Woke up one morning with a new klikcast out, downloaded and coverted to iPod and watched it on the way to my girlfriends place. Used to listen to the audio ones whilst talking the dog out too.

The way I saw it was you're more donating to DC and getting something in return. If you paid $10 for the game $6 or $7 would end up going to DC.

i think it was meant to mean that no one besides us clickers would be subscribing on itunes.
i do think people would see it though and could potentially get interested in what we're doing.
people would be like "whats this all about?" and it would bring traffic to the site, and possibly get us some new members.

also i think rikus or someone should add video to the first audio klikcasts, like game footage if anything. maybe klikCast seasons on dvd for a couple bucks with a cool box and extras. actual games from the klikcasts on disc with the box. maybe extra rikus footage? dancing perhaps?

I'm all for a revival of the Klikzine.

A boxed click game collection would be cool, but only worth doing if a professional publisher were to pick it up and sell it wide-scale. It would have to be really good for that to happen.

Again, how many people would actually buy it besides us? IMO it's a really neat idea, I will say. But who'd buy it?

And a brand new episode, with a t-shirt? Like a TDC-Package

well you can say that about anything we ever come up with to sell to promote the site. of course the only people that are going to be interested will only be the ones who KNOW about this stuff.

"And a brand new episode, with a t-shirt? Like a TDC-Package"

i'd buy it if it were reasonably priced.

tdc-package
+1 - tdc tshirt
+1 - klikCast season 1 dvd box
+1 - featured games cd (basically some really good free click games)
+1 - booklet (printed material like possibly back to the click, articles, commentary from the authors, fanart, concept art, interviews, etc)
