Anyone know where one can get TGF1 these days? I don't think Clickteam sells it anymore...

I'm really missing a good sprite editor like the one there.

I think TGF 1.06 is available for download on the Clickteam website if I remember correctly.

Hopefully you have a key, because otherwise you'll only have 30 days!

Do you really need a key? I thought they were generously giving away their old software. Also ... how do you even go about getting a key for discontinued software?

You don't, legally. They aren't giving it away, just a demo. Unless you've found some sort of secret freebie file. The one in the download section needs a key.

Alright, could someone please explain to me what makes TGF1 any better of a pixel or sprite editor than either Paint or MMF2's image editor? When I look at the image editor in TGF1, I see a rather weak, glitchy, and simplistic editor. The simplicity is largely why it's popular, I understand that. That's why I understand and wont argue against people who say they don't like the image editor in MMF 1.5. MMF2's image editor was designed and based off of TGF's editor though. Wtf is wrong with it? I think it's perfect.

Familiarity?

Maybe the OP doesn't own MMF2. If he/she's using MMF1.5 then I'm sure you can understand.

MMF2 adds things that are a bit cumbersome when you don't need them. They are handy when you do, but sometimes it's nice to have the simple. Tools behave kind of annoyingly when you're used to TGF. (particularly the select tool) Also I'm not a fan of what they did with the hot spot and action point thing, since I've accidentally changed it in MMF2 who knows how many times. The animation editor in MMF2, while nice since it's integrated, is also a little clunky and not quite intuitive with some things. On the other hand it does make a lot of, if not most, things better.

I don't ever open TGF anymore, but I can see why someone would want to.

Also one of the biggest things I miss are the actual tool cursors. They were simpler and the point that drew/painted was much easier to see. I can't use MSPaint because of the awful tool cursors. Zooming in is a pain too. And the palette... Ok, I'll shut up now.

I still use TGF1 for spriting
I do not use MMF2's editor because there is no RGB color box in the image editor. I find it unacceptable that you have to open the color dialog box each time you want to change/tweak your colors.

Maybe someone should write a TGF1-esque standalone sprite editor.

I'm not talking about the palette box. I mean the 3 sliders for RGB color.

Haha, I remember that! In fact, I think it was one of the main reasons I bought TGF at the time.. and I used it, maybe, once..?

Hah, you're right. Well, that's kind of pointless....but I guess if they gave TGF1 for free it -could- hurt their sales in their other products.

My TGF didn't come with a key, so I was never able to use any updates on it. (I bought it from a local shop).

Graphics Gale is nothing like TGF1's editor.

Come to think of it, I also don't remember needing a key for TGF.
