Tremor 4 Update
News posted 14th April, 2003 by TomH
Lately I have been playing and talking to Nighthawk about his game Tremor 4. I must say that this game is going to be awesome when he has more maps and all the small bugs are fixed. As of a few hours ago he uploaded his "Tremor Chat" program, for you all to voice you opinions of the awesome game. He also uploaded the Map Editor for you all to make maps with, he really needs some, so he is asking anybody who is interested to make maps and send them to him so they can be put into the final version. You can find all this and more at the Outburst Entertainment Website. Enjoy and get mapping!

Comments from Nighthawk:
"I think I've got enough of the chat and map editor up, I can finally chat with you all. To start the chat, download the program and connect! The chat server will be open for you all to talk to me and the rest of the staff between 9am-9pm PST (-8 GMT). JOIN US IN THE TREMOR CHAT AND WE'LL GIVE OUT THE LATEST BETA AND VOICE YOUR IDEAS!"

Joshtek, i have a P3 500 with a GeForce 2 MX, and it runs slow. the problem is the scrolling slows the game down too much, thats why i am making a small map which wont scroll. and ill see how it runs

If it's being made with MMF 1.5 there are lots of options which can be used to speed up the game.

or... he could make the screen a bit smaller:) i've tested some resolutions and the biggest you can have whitout slowing the game down is: 520 X 340

If it's slow for you, try turning on DirectX by making a shortcut and then open the properties. Where it says something like this in an edit box: "C:\Games\Tremor\Tremor.exe" Change it to: "C:\Games\Tremor\Tremor.exe" -directx About scrolling problems that's an issue of MMF. Nighthawk has told me, however, that he has implemented an option where you can adjust how often the screen should scroll. So you can get it to scroll like Tank Wars Online (Once per screen). It might not look very well, but it would run fast at least.

Another thing that will speed up the game for those of you using the latest NVidia drivers: Downgrade to 41.09 drivers! NVidia messed up with their drivers after that which made 2D MUCH slower. I noticed a huge speed difference in Tremor when downgrading. NVidia has fixed the issue and it will be in the next driver release, but until then you should use 41.09 if you want to play 2D games.
