Do you have what it takes? (Part 2)
News posted 21st April, 2003 by ShadowCaster
It seems some people are confused about what we require for the editor applications. To clear things up, here is what you need in handy bullet form:
  • A brief yet informative review or article about anything within the community (that isnt something to do with yourself, and that hasnt been ripped off from somewhere else).
  • The name and URL of two well-knowen company sites.
  • The name and URL of five not-so-well-known company sites.
Dont review all five sites! You can review a site for your review/article if you want, but it's not necessary. You can review anything you want, and we only require one review.

Hope that clears things up!

Submissions need to be in within two days... that means Wednesday at the very latest. Obviously if Wednesday isnt enough time, then you need to take typing classes; or if you only just saw this post on Wednesday, then you dont really visit DC often enough for us to employ you, sorry!

~Mike

That has nothing to do with me!!!

Of course getting this position will mean you have complete and absolute access to all the scripts I (and all the other admins) have access to. That should hopefully not be the only insentive for people to try out (the last thing I want is someone submitting an application just for the power), but I'm just letting everyone know because, as one person asked, this job would not mean you just email what you want put on the front page to one of the admins and have us do it.

I can do this but,I really cant be a***d to find all these "Company Sites" I'll only looking for them when I have to! What do you mean by "company sites"? do you mean sony, nintendo and organisations like that?

The name and URL of two well-knowen company sites. The name and URL of five not-so-well-known company sites. Umm...Why?

Posted by Lew 21st April, 2003

Oh, and by company sites, i assume he means click 'companies', so 2 well known could be FAIND and Blackeye Software, and the others could be like Zapdude Productions or X-Volt Studios (just reading names off the above comments)

Posted by Silveraura 21st April, 2003

what do you mean, 5 no so well known sites? Would my site count, hardly anyone go's there.

Posted by Kisguri 21st April, 2003

I quess the point is if you don't know then you might not want to be a admin as you are not intuned to the Click Community and it's users.....

Posted by ShadowCaster 21st April, 2003

The point of this job, as I said in my first post, is to find out things that are going on in the community and write brief but informative news about it. I ask for the list of sites so that I know you have a pretty good database of sites in your bookmarks (or in you head) so that you know some good places to get news. As I said numerous times before, I dont want another admin like the one's we've already got that'd jobs are just to put things on the main page based on information that is sent into us. I need someone to go out and find new news. Not scour every single little site every single day... but just so we have some other news about things that are going on outside DC.

ShadowCaster.. As I see you've got some kind of hosting or programming thing that makes your site -->.asp<-- If you wan't to add anything to the page, does that mean you must know how to work with HTML or anything else?

Posted by Proteus 22nd April, 2003

Ha ha! Sorry Zap, but as Kisguri said, your comments have probably ruled you out!

Posted by ShadowCaster 22nd April, 2003

Clubsoft and myself have both created scripts to make adding news and other things easy. You still need to know basic HTML (i.e. how to add links and images, etc) but if you dont know that, then I can show you... it isnt very difficult. By far I'll just be looking at your writing skills and the like.

Posted by Mitch M 22nd April, 2003

Cool! You disigned the software yourself! You the adman :D

Posted by Zap{Zapdude Productions} 22nd April, 2003

what ya chattin about proteus?

Posted by Steve Harris 22nd April, 2003

HTML is really easy you can even get some editors that will create the code for you but thats just being lazy :p

Posted by Zap{Zapdude Productions} 22nd April, 2003

I have submitted my article has anybody else??? :P

Posted by Muz 23rd April, 2003

I'd apply if it wasn't for my lack of time this year. Oh well, hopefully there's another job available next year. I'm probably not meant for this anyway. All the cool info I get about the community seems to have to be kept secret :(. It's amazing how many "hidden identities" and secret projects that never get completed there are in the community. Hopefully you find someone who's actually worthy for the job, SC. Considering how often you mention "writing skills", it sounds like you're having a bit of a problem ;).

Posted by Zap{Zapdude Productions} 23rd April, 2003

hey! i'z iz goot @ writing skillz :)

Posted by ShadowCaster 23rd April, 2003

Paul: You've still got a couple of hours before the deadline... it doesnt take hours to write something for DC :) It's not Shakespeare ;)

Posted by Chace 23rd April, 2003

I sent mine in on Monday night, and you havent replied ShadowCaster. Does that mean I dont get the job?:|

Posted by ShadowCaster 24th April, 2003

I cant tell you if you got the job until I've obviously seen all the submissions... And I cant do that at least until the deadline.
