Mini-Game Conspiracy
News posted 5th May, 2003 by Mitch M
Just listen to Jonny:
Some of you may have heard about the new Game Boy Advance game that's almost out, Wario Ware Inc. It's probably the strangest game I've ever seen, as well as the most ingenius. Put simply, WWI shoves 200 micro- games at you with no instructions on how to play. And each microgame (not minigame) is very bizarre and greaty varied from the last. Yes it sounds strange, but really it's an amazing idea. Each game is so short and so odd, you're always surprised and intrigued. Overall, a very interesting (and cool) idea.
SO NOW:
This gives me an idea for a game of my own. Why not do the same with a Klik game? And what's great is, it can involve ANYONE using a Clickteam product. I say we all should try to making one microgame of our own. It should be short, unique, and downright weird. Then we can put them all together into one big game (similar to Wario Ware Inc.). To make sure they'd all work together, each microgame will be 320x200 hopefully their file sizes will be as small as possible. Eventually, when all the microgames are compiled into one game, everone would be given credit for their own game and what not. And I'll have a few of my own microgames in the final game as well. I've made one already to start it off. It didn't take long to make and it's rather simple. But it shows the basic idea of a microgame. The file is open source in TGF... Screenie...
BUT FIRST:
I would like to know who wants to make a microgame for this project. If you want to add to the collection, first email me (through this site) telling me that you want to help. This will be much appreciated. How I'll have people send their microgames to me is not decided yet. I think I might enable people to upload them to my server if I can.
NOTICE:
I will not use microgames you make that contain inappropiate material or foul language. And if I feel your game is not good enough, I may not use it. This may not be a project for those who are new at using Clickteam products. When you DO make a microgame, make sure it's original, creative and possibly a unique graphic style. The one I made is photo realistic (made up of actual pictures). You may want to make a game that's very detailed or not very detailed at all, special kinds of shading or no shading, pixelly or highly detailed, Etc. Oh, and have fun for crying out loud!

I'm not particularily exited by this idea, but what the heck, i'll add something. :)

Posted by Flava 6th May, 2003

Will games with blood and gore be able to go into the collection?

Posted by Deathbringer 6th May, 2003

Two ideas: A mini UFO-Blaster game (See my ufo blaster game), similar gameplay but smaller graphics, and maybe added features Jambuster 1.5, Which would be like the game 'Jam buster' on my games site, except in a smaller window and with different graphics, and definitley a better engine (well i doubt i could make it any worse). Well, i should be able to make both of those and send them in, and if you like tjem include them ^-^

I'll see if I can make something

Sounds like a cool idea. I've started on a game already. It’s a fast food production line game. eg: you make burgers that fly past on a conveyer belt by adding the correct ingredient. It gets faster and faster as time goes by. Too many stuff ups and you get fired by a bad ass McDonalds manager.

Sounds like an awesome idea BUT you would need some standards that people would have to follow: regarding controls, how instructions are presented and various other compulsary things in order to keep consistency. Otherwise, it could be a real mess.

Yeah good point Dave. I have started making a game for this already! I think the whole thing is a great idea

Posted by Zapper 6th May, 2003

I have some questions: 1) How many players will the game be 2) What is the aim of the game? To get a higher score than your opponent or to pass in so many mini games, or something else? 3) What will the controls be?

Posted by Zapper 6th May, 2003

Hmm what is the aim of your mini game that you have made, Aku. I cant understand how you win, please explain

Posted by Zapper 6th May, 2003

Posted by This Guy 6th May, 2003

GREAT idea!!! I guess I'll be only one making mine in KnP... But don't count me out because of it! ANywayz....I'll think of something wacky to use! And maybe doing this will inspire me to make a microgame collection of my own! hehe... *little light bulb goes off*

Posted by BirkB 6th May, 2003

Is it okay if the game is 2 frames or would you prefer 1 frame?

Posted by Daniel[Crazy_Productions] 6th May, 2003

Damn! i was just going to post a similar idea in the forums.... but you did it faster:( .....but next time i get an idea i will be faster than you;) if someone still want to hear my idea please let me know;)

Sounds like a bad excuse to make loads of crappy games............. (but i may be wrong)

Posted by Aali [Crazy_Productions] 6th May, 2003

'Her is my firzt game is a better excuse :)

Posted by FLOZi 6th May, 2003

Posted by Dark One Entertainment 6th May, 2003

JD : Then why don't you make one where you have to survive for 5 seconds.

Posted by Mark 6th May, 2003

5 seconds? sounds cool. count me in.

Posted by Eric 6th May, 2003

Sounds pretty cool, I will probubly make a game.

Posted by Eric 6th May, 2003

Hmm, i'm confused by the example, so this is a game right, not some sort of confusing no point game?

Posted by AndyUK 6th May, 2003

im done my game is basically snap with character cards instead of real cards. one pile of cards change every second and the other every 5 you have to press space when they both match and if you are too slow or press space at the wrong time you get a game over. i will send it to you.

Hey , guys. HyperActive Productions is gonna jump into the fray with a spinoff of INFECTION. Since I've heard that Wario-Ware has a bunch of old quickies packed into it (Zelda, Mario) , we decided to take a similar approach. The point of the game is to destroy ten blobs in ten seconds. I'll submit whenever I can.

Posted by Zero 7th May, 2003

Hey, count me in =D I have an idea for a game already =D

Posted by Klikmaster 7th May, 2003

Ive done a basket-ball game. Its cooooool :D

Posted by Mitch M 7th May, 2003

I can make the final in MMF if you want! I got 1.5 full version...

Posted by Mitch M 7th May, 2003

I know... I'm creating a weird microgame named: C.C. Cesspit Carnival!... :D where you must pitch a ball on a dish to dump a weird guy into a huge pile a crap!!! Should the menu say Start and Back?

Posted by Pixalatio 7th May, 2003

I think i may add something to this... (if i have a 30 second gap[minimum] with no homework!!)

Posted by Cazra 7th May, 2003

I've made a game for this. Where do I send it? It's 3 frames long and the amount of time to play depends on the player's skill. Can this be accepted? It's only 330kb(I noticed the example was alot bigger than this.)

Posted by Zapper 7th May, 2003

I think he said 1 frame only, you never know If you can, try and shove it into 1 frame using groups

Posted by Deathbringer 7th May, 2003

Arhh, i doubt i'd be up to making anything so short and fitting that criteria XD, oh well, nevar mind

Posted by Eric 7th May, 2003

Could I make a rock paper scissors game, and the loser's arm gets smacked by a the winners fingers?

Posted by Mitch M 8th May, 2003

Quality Stuff {thumbs}

Posted by Eric 8th May, 2003

I see, now I think I have an idea of a game to do.
