Extension Bonus Pack Preview

A huge Bonus Pack full of very long expected and extremely usefull extensions. That's what Novabrain and some other talented guys are working on. A big reason they are making this is to show people how strong MMF 1.5 really is! And now it's almost finished! Novabrain posted a sneak-peak in the clickteam forums, saying that the project was already in testing phase and they only needed to round some extensions up before the release. They are all licensed and they should be all vitalized by the time they are out. The only creations that are mentioned:

Save Game Extension: Long requested and awaited Save Game Extension, that will save and load most of the data of an Active Object to memory or a file. Very usefull in alot of situations.
Text Blitter V2: A bettered version of this older extension. The ultimate bitmap font tool. Create a bitmap in the Generator, or use one off the Net, or of your own creation.
Blowfish: This mega strong extension will protect your creations better than ever. Now, you can apply powerful Blowfish ecnryption to just about everything: internal strings, files, online, etc. This extension allows for keys up to fifty-six characters in length. The longer and more complex your keys, the better your encryption.

can you give me a more specific description of the save game extension? does it just save the game into a file? if it does that, it will be wonderful!

My opinions on the save game ext: This will (probably) do a massive data dump, just getting all the bits of info from all actives and the frame. Massive file size. It's like default movements. Making a nice simple AssArray would be so much more efficient. Hope it isn't tho ;)

Actually, I have yet to see a custom save system (that saves the whole game state) that is 100 percent bug free. It is much harder than you might think.......... For example, what if you have a weapon in your game that passes through an enemy and damages him for one hit point. You save the game using a custom system while the bullet is on the enemy. When you reload the game it will damage him again. This could be used to cheat. That is just one example of a thing that many people don't think about when making a custom system, or saying that one is easy to make. I am not saying it's impossible, just that a save extension will make it much easier, and will allow time to focus on more important things. This extension is LONG overdue and I am glad we don't have to wait for MMF 2 before we get this ability.

I know, but you might want a certain weapon in your game to pass through the enemy but only hit him once. That is just one example. The save game extension will save me a lot of problems.....

Chicken, I was talking about what would happen with a custom save system. The save game extension will fix that.
