News posted 17th April, 2006 by The Chris Street
Hayo is the proud winner of this weeks GOTW, for his modified Christmas competition entry Dungeon TV Easter Special. Nice work.

This weeks entrants - Geega, Rudedude, Eo Neo Fire: Ocean Fox, Siup, Noitu Love and the Army of Grinning Darns, and Ascii Professor.

My GOTW prediction this week: Noitu Love. Let's see if I'm right.

Congrats Johan and Matt.

I think I'll keep the prediction thing in GOTW in future. Could make things more interesting.

The prediction could be seen as the admins trying to influence the votes, though. Not like it would have made much of a difference for the current voting.

Chance of Circy being wrong this week: 0.001% or less

Posted by Smeggy 18th April, 2006

Good going there Hayo.

Yes, fuck off the prediction idea. Having a game in the poll then having an admin tell people to vote for another one would not be a good feeling.

Posted by Liquixcat 18th April, 2006

It's really pretty obvious Radix. Let Circy have his little game.

my app should be on the next week pool, i submitted it yesterday...

The entrant list misses one game, The Dude War, though that IS correctly included in the poll. Then, the poll itself misses one game which IS listed above, Rudedude.

Posted by The Chris Street 18th April, 2006

The Dude War was never meant to be part of the GOTW poll, I have no idea how it got there (it's a beta). I've changed it now.

Posted by MJK 18th April, 2006

Oh, ok. Anyway, you can include it in the following poll next week, as it's not beta anymore.

Posted by The Chris Street 18th April, 2006

Righty-ho.

Posted by Muz 19th April, 2006

Prediction bad. I'd hate for my great game to be nominated for GOTW only to have the resident admin predict that another game would win.

Though unless the site gets flooded with LIJI clones with voting rights, there's almost no chance of NL losing.

Posted by 19th April, 2006

are you saying i'm having cloned accounts?

Posted by Jenswa 19th April, 2006

Good job Hayo.

Posted by The Chris Street 19th April, 2006

Ok, so I won't make a prediction from now on. But its still bloody obvious who's going to win.

Posted by Hayo 19th April, 2006

Maybe the prediction thing should be build in the GOTW poll, like when you voted for the game that won you get 10 dc points, and lose 5 when you voted for the wrong one.

Posted by MJK 19th April, 2006

I must disagree strongly with that idea (of Hayo's)! That would make the poll results to indicate NOT people's own opinions but their predictions about what the majority would vote! That would be totally silly, and it would lose all the meaning of an opinion poll.

People need to be let to think by themselves, without any cues or predictions or prizes for some particular choice.

Posted by Keatontech! 19th April, 2006

Or maybe after you vote it'd tell you the prediction.

Posted by Knudde (Shab) 19th April, 2006

@MJK - No, I know what hayo means. It's separate from the GOTW system. It'd be basically horse betting except on GOTW.

That's actually a pretty good Idea hayo. I'm not sure if it's actually implimentable or not, but I'll ask clubby about it.

Posted by MJK 19th April, 2006

Ok, but wouldn't it result in a system where one could have a favourite game, but instead of voting for it, this person votes for another game (worse in his/her opinion) as this has got more 'potential' to win the whole poll.

Posted by Hayo 19th April, 2006

Yeah you are right about that, it should be a separate thing.

Posted by Knudde (Shab) 19th April, 2006

Like I said, separate. Your GOTW choice, the your pick to win would be 2 SEPARATE votes. So for example, this week; you could vote for Geega; but bet on Noitu to win.

Posted by Keatontech! 19th April, 2006

I likes...

Posted by MJK 20th April, 2006

Yes, now it sounds a good.

Posted by Radix 22nd April, 2006

Even separate, it would have the same effect. Would you bet against your own vote?
