Talking Topic #6
News posted 28th February, 2007 by The Chris Street
What klik games do you feel are under-rated?

This is the discussion for this weeks Talking Topic!

It's a straight-forward topic; list the games that many didn't like, but you did, and accompany the list with one or two lines about why you chose those games. Sorry the topic is slightly late - I've discovered the brilliance of XBox360 Crackdown!

Please submit your opinions in the comments thread. Remember to keep things clean, and please respect the opinions of other individuals. Happy debating!

I'd of thought AGwaK2: Darkside Adventures would have done a little better than it did, and Teh Forum Game - though that stuff's more of an 'acquired' taste really.

Battle blade. Besides TangoStrike this is the klik game I've played the most. It's just so...fun!

Hooghaar XL by Johan Jansen (Jenswa).

I don't get how fishhead 3 was a hit while HHXL is more solid, has a better engine, more levels and better music than any fishhead game. It's a fun mindless platformer with nice graphics and a load of levels.

Yeah I'd have said Battle Blade, I really liked those 2 games but just little things about them I think held them back - though it's hard to say quite what...!

Do over-rated next week?

Knytt. As relaxing as Animal Crossing IMO.

Posted by Tim 28th February, 2007

Pff, it's as relaxing as getting run over IMO.

LOL just kidding

Posted by axel 1st March, 2007

Lol Phizzy.

Jimmi: Knytt wasn't really underrated. It got lots of negative reactions here, but many people also liked it. Artsy people, or people who like more slow-paced relaxed games, liked it, while people who were expecting more gameplay and action didn't. But I wouldn't call it underrated. It was much more well received over at TIGSource, and other sites.

Felony 11-79 on the Playstation was great fun, but too short. Its sequel, Runabout 2, was excellent. But by that time Driver and Driver 2 where out and wowing everybody, so it was ignored, but it's great fun (has better graphics than Driver 2 as well, the "Ferrari GTO-like" car looks beautiful).

There was a Runabout 3 on the Playstation2 as well, but that was crap by anybody's standards

Knytt.

Posted by LIJI 1st March, 2007

Knytt

Posted by DaVince 1st March, 2007

I don't get it; Knytt got its attention...

Posted by Johnny Look 1st March, 2007

Yeah that's because it had so much "atention" that Nicklas promised he would never ever submit any download on tdc again.

Posted by Deathbringer 1st March, 2007

NOW i see that it's about Klik games, not any games. In that case GTA-C 2! It had a certian 'charm', shall we say...

Posted by ncsoftware 1st March, 2007

Dragonmania aka Dragon-X: Gold Quest very underrated in the click community.

Posted by Nillo 1st March, 2007

Knytt was very good... so good I played it nonstop to the end and lost one night's sleep.

There's something special about games without a clearly written story. I'm not sure why. That's what made Lyle in Cube Sector so great, in my opinion.

Posted by Del Duio 1st March, 2007

Yes, but Lyle in cube Sector is hardly under-rated. It gets the praise that it deserves.

Posted by Nillo 1st March, 2007

Del: I know, but it is a good example of simple storytelling that works well. Nifflas did it in Knytt, and combined with the simple gameplay, instantly captured the player and reinforced the suspension of disbelief.

Posted by Phredreeke 2nd March, 2007

the Thod series

Posted by axel 2nd March, 2007

What's so special about the Thod series? I played Thod 3 (I think it was 3...) and it was um... Crap?

Posted by Hempuli 2nd March, 2007

no, it wasn't!

Posted by Beau 2nd March, 2007

Red Feud. Dark Wars II.

Posted by bhlaab 2nd March, 2007

Anybody who didnt like knytt is an idiot, fyi

Posted by Phredreeke 2nd March, 2007

Hyper Quadrant is awesome.

Posted by Dr. James MD 2nd March, 2007

I want to play Red Feud. I'll host it too, if Marten wants.

Posted by AndyUK 2nd March, 2007

I don't think red feud is under rated. It just never got beyond the click community.

Posted by ben mercer 2nd March, 2007

Most of the games that I like that other people dont like are games that I have created I fully understand why people didnt like my older games though- they were crap.

Posted by columbo borgi :C 3rd March, 2007

axel: Thotd 1,2 were quite good, but the third is crap as you say.

Posted by X_Sheep 3rd March, 2007

"Do over-rated next week? "

That'd probably result in a flamewar, but let's do it anyway

Posted by Tim 3rd March, 2007

XLOL - shh!

Posted by AndyUK 3rd March, 2007

Also tops the pig 2

Posted by ben mercer 4th March, 2007

Hahaha mcflyswat! I played that the other day... it really dissapates your frustration.

Posted by BeamSplashX 4th March, 2007

Star Angel. It's really quite fun, and the upgrading element is nice, too.

The Virus! I really like that game for some odd reason. Too bad the rocket launcher in that game is 100% worthless since it doesn't carry over and you can only get it after killing ALL the enemies. It did have a helicopter that could run enemies down, though. And you could swim on the second level, even though it was absolutely unnecessary!

Posted by Muz 6th March, 2007

Siege. Snowbrawl co-op.

Both fun games that you could play for hours and not get bored. I still have them on my comp, I just don't play them anymore because the folder's next to even better games like X-Com: UFO Defense and MadTV.
