New Game: SpaceCry
News posted 12th November, 2008 by Rikus
As the week heats up so do the games! Today we have a new game called SpaceCry made by Matt94 it is already getting some spiffy comments so have a looksy at the shiny link below!

Comments from Matt: You are Isaac and you have to go away from the spaceship... You can buy new weapons and objects. In spacecry, for kill monsters, you must cut theirs legs, arms or head (it's strategic).
Click here to go to the download page for SpaceCry.

On a side note thanks to Flava the admins now have the ability to remove star ratings. If you see a rating that was given unfairly (0 or 5 stars for example) submit it to the alert system for a admin to look at it. To define a wrong rating is the following: If the comments in the rating suggest this was only done to rate the game higher or lower without proper explanation to support the users rating. This also includes if no comments were given with a rating.

That's all i got for ya today, phew what a crazy couple of days on the site:)

Ultimate solution! Reeeeeaaaaaaally good work Flava! You've effectively removed abuse of ratings! Nice, nice, nice!

We recruit two new admins and Rikus does all the posting!

Flava has been really quick to respond to things recently. Thanks!

Can I make another suggestion? Would it be possible to choose whether you want to accept ratings on your game when you submit it (like YouTube?) I actually considered removing my game from this site because it became the focal point for a lot of complaints about the rating system.

Maybe we should have the ability to remove/change our own ratings though?

What a fantastico idea! Thanx, Flava . And Nim, i really hope this whole episode hasn't soured your opinion of this site and the people on it - we're not like this all the time

Nice one Flava,

although i do have a feeling the Admins are just going to get flooded with requests to delete ratings.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with Nim's idea. Just because the creator doesn't like a rating doesn't mean it should be removed.

Me too.

So you think it's fair that phredreeke gave my game 0 stars when he hadn't even downloaded it?

Let's not peeve off another person by taking over their game's news thread, let us continue this discussion in the designated forum (see Daily Click forums)

Okay good idea

Btw, this game has some really neat animations. I also like the artwork that went into the flashing beacon - very niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!

I believe Nim meant allowing the submitter of the game to decide wheter or not the game is up for rating i.e being able to tick "No, I do not want people to be able to rate my game."

Oh I didn't see Nim's idea. Yes that would actually pretty cool. It's kinda like opting whether or not you want people commenting on youtube videos, except with ratings

Posted by Cecilectomy 13th November, 2008

thats what i thought it meant to EE. and as for that i think its a wonderful idea.

Posted by Ricky 13th November, 2008

I think that's a great idea too

Posted by Codemonkey 13th November, 2008

That's a great idea, then the people complaining about rating abuse have only themselves to blame.

Posted by nim 13th November, 2008

Yes, sorry I wasn't very clear. I meant that the user could choose whether or not to accept ANY ratings, but only when they submit the game. For example, if you're submitting a beta, perhaps you don't want it to accumulate ratings instead of your final game when it's finished.

Posted by Knudde (Shab) 13th November, 2008

Ah yes, I misunderstood that. I think it's a good idea!

Posted by AndyUK 14th November, 2008

Ah that is a good idea actually, it would stop people voting for demos or engines if, like me you feel they shouldn't become part of the whole ratings database.

It doesn't stop upvoting however.

Posted by Eternal Man [EE] 14th November, 2008

No, upvoting is solved by you alerting an admin about it, and if it is an upvote it'll be dealt with. I believe you can read it for your self if you scroll up a bit.

Posted by AndyUK 15th November, 2008

uh, I can't read people's minds. If people want to upvote a game for a stupid reason they can.
