(Semi) New MOO and OINC servers
News posted 11th May, 2009 by OMC
For those of you that missed it, a little while ago Clickteam user Markclick started a server for Multimedia Fusion 2 developers to use for their MOO and OINC online game needs. You can check the online status and get the server addresses and ports at the website. As of now only public servers are available, but there may soon be private server packages available.

Visit KlikFarm to find server addresses

Since MOO is being phased out, some of you may be wondering how in the stinking berrymuffins to make a game or chat with OINC. Well, our good friend DizzyDoo has made some fancy little tutorials over at the Clickteam forum. Click here and you will be transported magically to these tutorials.

For those of you who have no idea what MOO or OINC is, skip on over to the tutorials and you'll find out. They are extensions that let you create applications that can communicate with each other. Think an online racing game. You can exchange object positions and values with the server, effectively creating a multiplayer online game! Fancy, eh?

Now go make an online game and submit it so we can play it. >_O Oh, and visitors, please register! We're always happy to have new members!

That's strange... I'll try myself later, I've gotta run off to class.

Fair play to the new admins - the newsposts are coming thick and fast! A true testiment to how well chosen they were; let's keep optimistic and hope they keep up the good work, putting any doubters to shame! Kudos to you all, Robert, OMC and Jon

Im still doubting considering none of it is new news to me.

You're just that good Adam, not everyone runs around on all the forums all the time.

No I just think if its the trial period in which they have to prove themselves they should actually put a little effort into it and research, ask around, do interviews and try to find exclusive content, previews no one has seen before. PM Nifflas and ask him for an interview, that kind of thing.

Posted by UrbanMonk 11th May, 2009

That would be cool. Go interview Nifflas guys!

Well this is news to me

I still think it's an admiral effort - so what it's not 1st hand, but then again not everyone knows it! Why would i want to trawl through other sites just to get that specific bit of news 1/2 a day earlier? That's what the admins are for!

Bravo, i say!

...besides, it's only like their 2nd day, for Pete's sake! Let's reserve criticism until they've had a good go at it. For now, i think they deserve praise and encouragement! As does Rikus for 3 great (so far) choices!!

If there's nothing new to post, there's nothing new to post. We're working with what we have, and you'll hear things just as fast as we will since you visit everywhere. We'll go out and ask people about things every once in a while, but it would be useless to do that everyday. Sometimes there just isn't anything to post. Would you rather we posted every single forum topic on the front page, or post whenever some esteemed developer brushes his teeth? I think the emphasis is that the new admins faithfully post news instead of just stopping after a while, not that we have to get hidden juicy nuggets that nobody in the world knows about until we reveal it. That's a plus if we do find something of course, but we'd kill ourselves trying to make every post like that.

Hahahah, sounds hard but maybe I'll try to make an online game someday. What happens if their servers ever blow up or disappear? Does that mean your online game's no good anymore?

Posted by UrbanMonk 11th May, 2009

That means you switch to another server, or make your game automatically connect to servers in order. If one's down connect to the next one, and so on.

Posted by OMC 11th May, 2009

Del Duio, do you have a website? One idea you could do is keep a list of currently working servers on a txt file on your own hosting space, and have the game access the latest list if it can't connect.

In the news about Ricky123's new chat client tutorial I posted a link to that page with DizzyDoo's tutorials.

I apologize, I didn't see that comment.
