New MMF2 Tweak: Extension List Categories
News posted 3rd January, 2011 by OMC
Fanotherpg has taken it upon himself to order all of the 401 available extensions for MMF2 into categories in the Create New Object box (That window that pops up when you double click in the Frame Editor). Just backup your old ini file, download the new one, and be on your way with thems classy new categories. (Classegories?)

It's a work in progress right now, so if you catch something out of place, feel free to point it out. Something cool enough by itself is the inclusion of new categories for extensions compatible with the various runtimes--even unreleased ones!

The revelation that you can edit the categories yourself is, to me, insquantulous!

Not sure I really get the point of this. They're arranged in alphabetical order anyway, so it's not exactly hard to find the ones you want (and I have all extensions installed, with the exception of the Flash-specific ones).

Sketchy with amount of 400+ extensions list itself was loading quite a lot this is why in new build (250) Yves added functionality which I asked him after that the last group would be a default one in re-opening.

What's more the project is based on FusionWiki Extension list which is IMHO well more arranged and has got less general categories which allows someone to find extension for particular task - faster.

Furthermore my personal aim was to create a groups of extensions compatible with exporters. So you don't have to worry about changing between exporters and trying to remember which one is compatible with this or that build everything is on the lists.

Also it allows to present information of unreleased exporters like iOS and Python (codename Anaconda) and make your projects already compatible with them, by showing you which extensions would be working on them and which not.

I don't use MMF - but Well done Fanotherpg - sounds like a good idea.

@Fanotherpg:
Your third point (about grouping extensions according to compatibility) makes a lot of sense. For anyone interested in making games using the Flash/Java builds, I can see it would be well worth using.

It's not going to help you find an extension any quicker though, unless you're really forgetful, and can't remember names.

Aim for it is not to help you to find extensions easier which you know - in that case you will probably look trough all objects group.

But to help out people new to software, as well as those who weren't here for a bit, or those who just updated it and are overwhelmed with amount of extensions, or those who would like to know what a new extension is doing by giving a better organized list and updated ASAP.

Also it supports currently Flash, All Java, Mobile (Java & Blackberry) as well as iOS and Python Exporters.

What is more in mean time I provided with new update - details on Clickteam Forums thread.

And amounf of extensions increased to 405
