The Click Ezine
News posted 22nd July, 2002 by ShadowCaster
PeterG is currently putting together a monthly ezine for the community and is looking for submissions. Heres what he has to say:

I am currently taking submissions for articles and reviews for the first issue of 'The Click Ezine'. The articles need to be of quite good quality and related to Clicking matters. Reviews also need to be of good quality but need to be long as well, no short 5 line reviews anyone! For more information or to submit content PM or email me. The first issue should be out around the 3rd-5th of August.

So fire up Notepad and start writing!

~Mike

so you have not heard of the klikdisc then?

Posted by bhlaab 22nd July, 2002

Hmmm. It seems kind of pointless since this site already has articles and reviews and such already.

klikdisc is a cd you have to order for money... I think a good Ezine is a cool idea.

I really never saw the point of KlikDisc either

Errr...can you give me an example, please. I think I do not really understand what a Ezine is. Sorry. I am tiered….

Please ignore this... I'm just testing something.

KlikDisc is a good idea, but I don't see why I should pay for a freeware community. Here on TDC, anybody can submit anything. The Ezine should pick the best submissions and ask for further information (e.g. if an awesome preview is submitted, the authors could ask for a playable version and write an article about it). The Ezine shouldn't be that long, but it should contain detailed information about everything that is going to rock the community. I still do think that it's a good idea.

i think its a great idea. this way, we won't get stupid reviews on games that ppl didn't even try out yet ("this game looks ugly, i didn't play it, but it probably sucks. 1/10")

Well, KlikDisc is not for everyone, However KlikDisc does provide some interesting Elements. I think NovaBrain put it best at the Clickteam Forum... Well, I have finally had a chance to preview KlikDisc.

I must say, this is the first compliation/magazine-style effort I have seen that is both promising and serious. Of course, people would wonder, why do this when you can get the material online? I would prefer to have someone do that for me, for a nominal fee. It is also good to have reference discs available when you are offline or don't have access to the Net. What about users with low bandwidth who might miss great demos and games, but just can't wait out the long download?

But that's not all. This idea has greater potential in total. It has a focus as a repository and outlet for everyone in the community. The game makers should support this compliation fully and promote it on their sites. In other words, this is a benefit to them, and getting on the bandwagon could have promotional potential well into the future. I don't see KlicDisc as fully evolved yet -- there is a lot it could do to make itself indespensible -- but the community should not overlook the potential here. I certainly have ideas and suggestions .. but hey, that's good. If KilcDisc makes you want to help improve it and suggest things, its obviously valuable. I would highly suggest that all users with potentially valuable material, make their work available to this compliation and do their best to support it and, most importantly, grow it. If so, there is going to come a time when everyone is going to miss out on things if they don't subscribe. Also, if you see the value and potential of having a physical medium based on our community, I encourage those of you who can afford it to support it. This is about a process that I think could grow into a new phenomena ... with your help, ideas, articles, and suggestions.

So, I would say that, so far, Kisguri has our attention at Clickteam, and we certainly wish him great success with this noble, creative, and productive endevour. So, I think there are three parts to help this along: 1) All users who can afford to purchase it, should. Consider it your show of support. Without your support, this really won't get off the ground and an opportunity would be missed. 2) Supply demos, games, articles, media, etc., for non-exclusive use on the disc, to help expand its content. Currently, I don't see the profits to the editor as being huge nor is this ripping people off. It delivers what it promises and at a nominal cost. 3) Give ideas and suggestions for improvments and lets see this evolve and grow. I have already given some suggestions to the Editor. Let's see how it goes. Its exciting to have something new come around to spark everyone. In any case I wish you luck with the E-zine and if KlikDisc can be any help let us know!

umm kis, if your done with your commercial;) Why the heck are you posting it in 4 different posts?

Posted by Kisguri 22nd July, 2002

Sorry, But I lot of Anti KlikDiscness seems to inhabit this site so I wanted people to know what is about. In any case if E-zine needs any help our resources are at your disposal!

...and that's not all! If you order now you also get this special KlikDisc carrying case for free! Now you can take your KlikDisc everywhere you go. But wait! That's not all you get! When you order now, you get this FREE set of steak knives! All for the price of $19.95!

Posted by Kisguri 22nd July, 2002

well we got rid of the steak knives due to poor test market polls if you must know,

Posted by FlameCritter 22nd July, 2002

You never had steak knives.

Posted by The Chris Street 22nd July, 2002

Has anyone noticed that if theres an offer like "free steak knifes", the freebie always seems to break within a week?

Way to turn this news around Kisguri XD. Sounds like it could do well Peter, i remember klikkety klik started out somewhat like this (an online klikzine). BTW, i checked KR.net recently and the relaunch is advertised as 30th June - where is it?!?

Posted by PeterG 23rd July, 2002

Not there, at the moment I am contemplating shutting the site down or handing it over to someone else.

Posted by PeterG 23rd July, 2002

Also if you have any news you would like to break in the eZine, feel free to send it me. I will also take any long reviews and Previews, of games, sites and programs. And if you wonder why I am making this when you can get articles and stuff from TDC, I am planning to have long articles and long reviews, not crap 5 line reviews and articles that are posted here a lot.
