Project Overview
Here's a preview of a small project I've been working on when I'm bored. It's a basic trap-avoiding platformer in the vein of Pitfall or the like, but with some added features and all round nastiness with a generous dollop of extreme violence and a side order of black humour.

It's been created from scratch on MMF 2, pretty much the first project I've not imported from MMF 1.5, and it makes good use of MMF 2's built in alpha-channels and layer parallax and new effects while still maintaining an old-school look and feel. It also sports a custom platform engine that I think seems to work really well.

It's also a rarity for me because it features no 3D rendered graphics whatsoever, just 100% original pixel-art all done by me. Sure, the static stuff might look a bit better than the fully animated stuff, but that's just due to my laziness and lack of time.

So the main aim of the game is to get your little ginger dude in a purple suit through the levels, avoiding death in many different forms and opening doors and passages to advance to the next area. There is also no form of attack available to the player, it's all jump, dodge, avoid etc. So far, anyway, I plan to have some puzzles where something or someone can be attacked via other objects. I might also chuck in a few mini-games, depending on if I can be arsed.

The screenshots are cropped from their original resolution of 640x480 to remove empty and unnecessary space. I know there's a bit of a warped perspective, but I'm gonna fix it at some point.

In the screenshots you can see the floor spikes that shoot up when you tread over them, the large stone block that crushes you if you walk under it at the wrong time. There is a red spring-board on the end of the first platform, it catapults you into the air, this can be helpful or hurtful depending on the situation.
