Project Overview
Preview Borders2D is a platformer with a focus on gun customisation. I prefer to call it a "Loot Platformer".

Basically there will be quite a few weapons in the game in which you can collect. To further customise your weapons, you will receive "Mods" which will alter the behavior of your guns. These mods can be combined in any manner and can be inserted in any guns.

The game will NOT be freeware.
I reckon that since this will probably be the last indie project ill be working on, i might as well give it a go on the market and see how it turns out.

Base Mechanism
Posted 22nd Jul 10, by CYS 5 Comments
The project is not dead! In fact, the game has moved on quite a bit since the last update here. And while you cant see much of new weapons/mods/levels here in this video, do know that most of the enemy types, bosses and GFX are done. I just dont want to reveal too much yet .

The main focus of the video is on the new base mechanic. Within the base, you will be able to accomplish the following things:

Upgrade Facility – Weapon Factory / Mod Laboratory
Research New Weapons / Mods (quality will depend on facility’s level)
Upgrade Individual Weapons (up to a total of 3 levels)
Decide which missions to take on
Store Weapons / Mods
Manage Equipment
Save

With the inclusion of the base mechanic, the old system of "Get 2 random weapons/mods per completion of level" is removed. Hopefully the new mechanic can add a layer of strategic element onto the game as the player decides on how the money is spent.

The base mechanism is somewhat inspired by MGS: Peace Walker, so those who played that game before might find the mechanic similar in some ways.

Now to the bad news. As school is about to start soon, i wont be able to work on the game as much as i would like. Progress will slow down quite a bit. However, seeing that the project is already about 70% done, its never going to be abandoned. Ive spent too much time to abandon it now .
New Gameplay Video
Posted 29th Mar 10, by CYS 5 Comments
Was playing with some screen recorders but none of them gave a smooth framerate... until i discovered fraps. Smooth and records the audio too! Just thought to showcase a video of a new level.

The music is ripped from Splinter Cell but the full game will have original music.

As for progress, the GFXs for all the levels are done. The enemies are also done for the stage you saw in the video. The game's progressing really quickly .
