Gaze Into the Night
Posted 24th Nov 10, by Hermes
Successfully implemented day/night cycles. After enough time has passed, the game will alert the player that the sun is setting, and the game screen sans the HUD will darken to reflect it. It brightens to reflect the sunrise, as well.
The Main Menu for the game is also under construction. There, the player will be able to view their stats, equipment, goals, and other things.
The Inventory has had major development done. All pages are accounted for and have descriptions of each item if you have them. Pictures also accommodate the individual items.
The Battle screen has been changed so that the main three stats in the HUD are easier to see. The background has also been modified to fit the magnification.

hahaha! the picture of the player fighting the classic blue diamond is adorable!

what plans do you have for action happening during the night cycles? i'm curious to learn how you plan on using night-time in the game.

Nighttime will work like most adventure games: certain things happen only at night.
So far, Thieves will have the most fun with the night, what with being able to rob houses under the cover of the dark. Thief-only quests will most likely all be done at night.
However, Magic Users will be able to upgrade their magic staves with the moonlight, so it isn't Thief-exclusive. It's up in the air as to whether or not to make the rest of their equipment upgraded in the same fashion.
Fighters won't see much of a change, because their gameplay style is very much more straightforward (not many nightly errands to run since they can all be done during the day).
Oh, and the blue diamond is only because I haven't animated any of the encounterable creatures yet.
