Aaargh, installers. OK, that's all I'm going to say about that, get it over with quickly.

However, there's so much that I want to say about the "copyright info" file, but I fear that the author would probably explode if I ripped it to pieces in the way that I really want to. The message it carries is fair enough - don't rip the graphics, distribute it freely and, er, don't copy the ideas. But it's written in such appallingly-typed quasi-AOL speak that it really is just laughable. No one's going to steal your game, Zimtower, you're quite safe. I never want to incite flames, but please type in English - and that goes for the description on the download page as well.

Is the game any better? Let's find out. On startup you're presented with an entirely red title screen with blue text that's entirely in lowercase and isn't quite aligned in the centre. It really looks like it was made in under two minutes, and as the title screen is the first thing that the user sees it doesn't really give the best impression. (Neither does that copyright note, in fact, but I'll leave that to rest now).

The game itself lasts 21 seconds, according to the author, but I think it's more like eighteen. The object is to use a big spiky weight... thing to brutally squash as many ants as possible within the time limit. The ants seem to be randomly generated, so maybe that's a bit of competent programming.

The gameplay is atrocious, though - all you have to do to get a good score is hold down the Down arrow to bounce the thing off the ground. I'm not sure what the criteria are for squashing an ant - sometimes you get them, sometimes you don't - perhaps it's something to do with if your weight is facing down or not.

That's all there is to it. The graphics aren't anything special, but they're all original as far as I can tell. Other than that, I really don't know what to say about this game. I don't like discouraging newbies, really I don't, so I'll just say to the author to have a bit of practice at making these things, and upload one again once you've gained a bit more experience. "The Lost Ant" was better than this, what happened?
