Review: Random-Man Adventures!

Oh randomness! one of those things that annoying people claim to be because talking rubbish and pissing people off is 'so totally random and cool'!

Anyway the game itself doesn't appear to be all that random, you've got some made up quote from people which is actually quite amusing and a typical title screen with buttons to press.

Lets play shall we?

What the heck? a timed tutorial level? lol. Well it's easy enough to pass it in time. The game doesn't try too hard to deviate from other standard platformers. One move your little man have in his repertoire requires you to hammer the S key to make your jumps higher, It's ok for the most part but only works when you're rising, so it wont let you float downwards gently. Also the game suffers from the built in TGF2 movement. Hitting your head on a block forces your X movement to stop until you touch the floor, providing you do actually touch the floor and not the bottom of the frame, because then you die! :( Changing direction doesn't slow you down, so trying to center yourself on a small platform becomes a night mare you to tap left and right and keep accelerating!!!!! also for some reason you can walk up 16x16 blocks. oh and you can shoot things that you collect, but this is a pain in the arse too. A nice but slightly lazy attempt to add some variety is 'hard' and 'lol extreme' mode, that appears to basically increase the frame rate.

The graphics are really basic, a few blocks here and there and some fairly well drawn sprites.

There is sound and music, yes...

Dunno, you'll most likely get bored before you finish it.

The built in movement hinders what might have been a fairly decent game. Well actually it's probably not even decent. ok i wont be too harsh or anything but there are better games on TDC.

uh what happened to all my line breaks?

Maybe it's the Christmas Theme.

I've noticed there's no line breaks to separate people's posts from their 'signatures' either..

I agree with this reveiw,

It seems as though the creator of this game has focused too much on making it 'random' and not enough on the engine or graphics. The randomness kind of only works the first time though, because if you play it for a second time you will notice that the 'man' is infact the same, making it predictable instead of 'random'.

The title of this game is also a bit concerning depending on how you read it. I thought I was going to get a randomly generated "man adventure" for a second there...
