however when i do anything (even adding a frame of animation) i change the filename and save it.
i end up with 100's of files but at least one messed up one wont ruin my entire game.
How do people end up with hundreds of files by saving? I have MMF2 set to create 5 backups, thats all. Thats 5 chances to revert back if I make a mistake, which in my opinion, is more then enough. Waste of space if you ask me... but you know, my open sources usually end up over 10mb, so I'd be racking up a good gig or so with over 100 backup files.
Well, if your project is large or complex you may later decide that something you did last week/month was better than what you have ended up with, you can then open that old file and copy/paste the parts you realise were better into the new app.
Often times I over-complicate my work and sometimes look back on older files to see why they were more playable or more pleasing in some ways.
Thanks for all this help, i have started saving as different files. I don't think you realize that I did save in the period of two hours, probably around 12 times, but the problem was, was that it just deleted the file I saved.
whenever i use mmf 1.5 i save often. I have discovered that when it does crash on me it is normally involving one specific function: the picture editor copy drag box thing. That and the ctrl + A function. It effects both active and backdrop objects as well. So, whenever i'm using that specific tool, i save like crazy. Oh, and check the "save after closing or hitting escape" box under preferences.
