Unless the game specifically uses the mouse (or a sundry lot of buttons), I generally map it to a joypad instead.
So the only thing I've got against control schemes is when the game uses shift to jump (with no way of changing it) and employs a variable jump height. This is the perfect recipe for JoyToKey incompatibility.

I just don't see why games remove the CTRL+Y menu command. Stuff like Knytt Stories. I haven't updated or played it since launch so they might have thrown that option in now?

I don't like Ctrl Y, because it doesn't allow you to remove buttons and extra controllers for other players.

I think more people should use the space bar in their games. I mean, just look at it. It's HUGE! It's basically asking you to pound on the thing, IMO.

In my more recent games I use Z+X+C, but allow an option to swap Z for Y.

I'll expand on what I said first... lol

For keyboard only games Arrows and ZXC or ASD for actions.

For mouse games it has to be WASD, I can't use arrows without moving my keyboard over the edge of my desk .

Using the WASD keys makes no sense, you have perfectly good Arroy Keys right there. Using WASD is like using the Gear stick to steer your car.

Well, as I see it, there are two good reasons for when to choose WASD over the arrow keys:

- You're using the mouse with your right hand, and thus want a more comfortable alternative to the arrow keys for your left hand, or

- You're used to controlling the directions with your left hand (like with any game controller), don't want to fight the backwards feeling of using your right hand on the arrow keys.

Overall, though, I'd say give the player a choice, and he will not complain.
