Its nice to see people making games that are diffrent from other games, like fig for example! Its not a platformer and you cant control the character using the key buttons, you use the frickin mouse! THAT is what makes it different to other games, and that is what will make it a good game, because its differnt!

If any one can come up with a different game idea then you will have a frickin winner! Mario for example, they made plenty of platform games on that So what nintendo frickin did was made it into a frickin puzzle game called MARIO V.S FRICKIN DONKEY KONG!

Dont get me wrong platformers are the best type of games goin around, but its just nice to see somthin different like FIG!

I totally agree. Games like Pencil & Paper / Chalk / The Yellow Shape, were huge influences in my latest project. Although my game is nowhere near as good .

Though I do have this idea of making a series of games where you only use 1 hand so you never have to set down your drink.

I dunno. During the early days of my current project I toyed around with using a mouse but then I realised I spend such a long time using my mouse working that I'd rather spend time away from it every so often.

I'd rather not play 2D games that use the mouse. But we do need more games that use proper analogue.

Every single game I've ever made uses the mouse, or mouse and keyboard... keyboard only games pretty much died a long time ago. The mouse gives so much more freedom and dynamic feeling to any game... there are few games that can really hold my attention for more than a couple of minutes that are driven only with the keyboard.

Just my 2 cents

That's kind of an odd view, I find that I prefer keyboard/keypad only games. E.g. I prefer DS games that don't use the stylus and I usually prefer joypad/keyboard games on the computer. The mouse is novel (and if used properly very effective) but it just can't provide the desired effect in many situations.

I like DS games that don't require precise input on the touchscreen since I've gone commando and use fingers only. Pokémon's perfect for this.

I groan every time there's a click game where you control a crosshair with the keyboard

Yes I suppose it is an odd view... I used to think the same as I grew up on consoles and arcade machines ("What are those?" ask the young people). Once I got a computer and started playing a lot of FPS games, I realised the mouse had a lot more use than I first imagined... I even went back to the "old" fps games and set them up for mouse input... everyone laughed at me until I started beating them constantly on LAN.

I find it far more interesting to have say, a shooter game where the mouse is the crosshair... platform, overhead, or even isometric... doesn't matter. Far more controllable than having to run in the direction you want to shoot.

Again just my opinion.

I think the keyboard vs. mouse issue is perfectly demonstrated in Noitu Love and Noitu Love 2.
