Very vivid, maybe it'll look better actually running. Right now, the colors kinda hurt my eyes with so many contrasting
elements.

Nice style. However I think if you implemented some more colour theory, such as when background elements begin to become slightly more blue and decrease in saturation as they go further into the background, may help this to look nicer.

I think it would be nice to see more hue variation in the objects colours as well, not just lighter and darker shades of the exact same colour.

Eh, I quite like it. Just add some saturation to the background objects, so they look more like backgrounds.

Right now I'm putting everything together in mmf express but I plan on doing finishing touches with layers and backgrounds in mmf2 once I buy it. I just like the layout of mmfe better since it's what I've been used to for 8 years. I'm thinking of using the perspective object or just some individual layers for the water and I'll probably do more shading on it once I do.

Here's a couple more pics of Tauro using his charge attack. *edit I guess you have to click on it to see it bigger, has this forum always done that?

I think we should see it running before we suggest that the backgrounds should be more subdued. Look at the picture from Sonic 3 below:

Image

The backgrounds are VERY vivid, yet they look great, especially when Sonic is moving. And because there are so many Klik games with the same style (ie. backgrounds more muted and pastel-like, colour-wise) it makes a really refreshing style to see something so bold!

Looks fine to me. Vivid colors CAN make a game look overwhelming, but I think you assembled together quite nicely. Keep up the good work.

Yeah, If it says it's like Sonic, I'll download it. If it's good, it should be the game of the week. And if it REALLY IS like Sonic, Heck YEAH I'll vote for it!

Looks nice.
@Mark Radon- Remember too though, that in that particular screenshot, the backgrounds weren't nessarly backgrounds in the sense that his game is. Those are on the same layer as the player, they just happen to be a little farther back. Backgrounds in Sonic always had a parallax to them, and many layers doing so too. So at no point was anything truly overwhelming, you never lost your sense of position.
