I really, really suck at spriting. So on this game I've been trying VERY hard to make it look nice. Can someone tell me how they think this looks?:

I won't lie and say it looks brilliant, but it is consistent and it seems stylized -- which is good. You're better off having it look merely average and having a solid look throughout, than being technically dazzling, but have a complete lack of style. Just make sure its fun to play and I don't think anyone will care what it looks like anyway.

I think they look great, the clouds are cool. But we will have to see whether or not you can animate.

Hmm, i would classify those graphix as 'cosy'. I like them, the character looks good.
But make sure you have some really cool features in this game however.

More shading and more details and it should be good.

Thanks for the comments guys. Anyways, completely ignore that square... thing... on treads.... It's only temporary. Also, what do you mean by more shading? What could use more shading? And it should have decent gameplay. I plan to make 50 stages, 5 different zones with 10 stages to each of them, and a minigame at the end of each zone.

Oh yeah, and each zone is going to have a different theme (Outdoor, Evil Castle, Space Station, Mines and probably somewhere interesting for last zone)

Lol everyone plans big, Sharpshooter that could be quite hard unless you make yourself a map maker. If you can't make them, I can make one for you. 50 stages = 50 frames, or 50 .lvl files or whatever you want to call them. Also with a map maker other people can make maps for your game if you want them to.

Here's a tip for the floors: Use more vivid colours. the TGF palette is really 'wishy washy'. You should use the CNC one instead. Also, add a bit of shading. Start with a darkish shade of brown just underneath the grass, then go lighter, and gradually darker again as you go down. Don't make it perfectly horizontal though- add a few nicks and blemishes, then you're done. I'd show you an example if Acoders was still up...

What I mean by shading is just texture actually, add more shades of green and more shades of blue. Unless of course thats your style.
