Not that I'm planning on making another one anytime soon, but, given the number of games here that would be rated R for violence anyway, I was wondering what DC's stance on pornographic games is.
"Say you're hanging from a huge cliff at the top of mt. everest and a guy comes along and says he'll save you, and proceeds to throw religious pamphlets at you while simultaniously giving a sermon." - Dustin G
Nudity isn't necessarily pronography though (I haven't seen the game in question). As I said, it's difficult to define. Pkeod is right - just have some sense and remember that all ages browse this site.
My game 'Tits!' didn't get accepted as a download, and the post on the forum was deleted, which I thought was very niave. Hey, maybe when we submit a download, we have to age-rate our game? Just a thought.
AT, I had the same thought. People get up in arms about swearing since kids visit here, but exploding lemon-scented heads are no big deal, apparantly. A rating selection, even as simple as general, mature, restricted, would probably go a long way against those evil pirchfork-wielding mothers against VG violence.
That's perhaps a good point. On this site, it seems that any level of violence is tolerated, but sexuality and strong language aren't - maybe because games desensitise us to violence more than anything else. The system would have to be voluntary, though - or maybe someone who reviews a lot of games could do it.
I don't think that'd be a problem. If you can figure out the genre you can surely manage the rating. You'd know you have to tiptoe around the borderline stuff and would likely err on the side of caution if you weren't certain.
Yeah, I agree, anyone could rate their own game. And as for the violence vs sex thing, it is strange how killing and maiming is shrugged off, when the natural practice of sex is deemed taboo, and rearrangeing the letters NUCT would be offensive.
So maybe a rating system rather than complete censorship is an idea?
Do you think the Genital Drive could be used as a joystick?
I completely agree with Paul, violence is more accessible and can be appreciated a lot more. Making a game about sex is considerably harder, and what's the point unless you don't have a girlfriend It's why we have KaZaA.

Porno game? In Australia there is no such thing as a R category - Would you believe it? But it's fine with me.
I think maybe a selection page on the main downloads would be good, where you had the options to choose a genre, browse all games, browse by letter, only see games suitable for under 15s/16s/18s whatever, or see uncensored.
