Yes, he was not a good leader. But he's not the leader anymore, it was the only thing important to him, he's got nothing left now. And personally, I think that living with that humiliation is much worse than death. Cause when you die, that's it, but when you live...you can kick yourself in the ass repeatedly over and over again. Especially if you are alone on a tiny island with noone else around. I'm basically saying that we were wrong for sticking our asses in where they did not belong. But that can't be changed, I just hope the reprocussions (spelt wrong) don't screw us all.

both sides were wrong in this one, but hell it's human nature. We're destined to either evolve, or wipe ourselves out.

assassinating him would have been a bad idea, the people who would have taken over the country were 10 times as bad as Saddam. Saddam at least knew how to somewhat run a country. His aides (who would have taken over) probably would have just turned Iraq into a huge nuclear war machine. He was the lesser of two evils in George's time.

"over a decade ago we had saddam by his balls, we had the choice to kill him or whatever we wanted, but then good ol' georgie decided "nah, let's just leave" then 10 years later his son is in office and a plane or 2 smashes into large buildings and *ding* a lightbulb goes off in Dubya's head and he plans for Desert Storm part 2"

Are you trying to say Saddam Hussein sponsered Al Queada, or that Wubya just "changed" after September 11th?

I don't believe in public executions, but it's not for me to decide. I have to admit I felt a little sorry for him when I saw him, but then he never had any of my family tortured or executed. Just because he's miserable, doesn't mean he isn't evil. Anyway, Iraq will have a rigged election to decide his fate... but this time...IT WILL BE RIGGED BY AMERICA!!!

I think they should just hand him over to the Iraqis.
He tortured and oppressed them, so they can decide how
many life sentences to give him.

I found myself feeling sorry for him... but all the appearances of repentance etc. may not be true. He asked for what he is getting anyways.
Kudos to Bush.

Not sure I agree with execution, but I certainly don't feel sorry for him in any way, shape or form. He has murdered literally thousands of his own people, for God's sake.

JD, I think you've over-simplified the (Gulf War 1)situation somewhat.
Afghanistan had nothing directly to do with Saddam/Iraq, the war was to get rid of the Taliban, who were large supporters of Al-Qaeda. Saddam possibly also had links with them.
Assassinating him was difficult because he didn't appear in public for about 2 years.

This is an Example
"I'm afraid of your stupidity, therefore I must kill you."
But when in reality it was like this.
"We think you're stupid, but we're not sure, so we'll kill you anyway."

Well sorry, but I don't think that bomber pilots who accidently bomb civilians should be punished, that makes no sense to me.

Also, it's very easy for us to sit here and say "oh I feel sorry for him" when it's not YOUR family who he has hurt. We should give him to the Iraqis, who will "take care" of him.

99 percent chance that the above post is 100 percent correct.

No, punish the one's who started it, Congress and bush. Soldiers just do what they are told. I guess I didn't make myself clear earlier.

LAY OFF ON BUSH!
He started NOTHING. Bush did not murder thousands
of his own people and hide WOMD with which to bomb an
innocent nation. Iraq has been liberated, and I cant
figure out why you guys think that Bush is a bad guy just
because he destroyed a TERRORIST regime!
The civilians that lost their lives directly
resulting from the war probably had it good
compared to those sent to the torture chambers.
Aid packages, the abolition of secret police and lawless
government is a GOOD THING!

I rest my case, all you hoodlums.

You realize the US has a lot more weapons of mass destruction... but I'm glad it's finally over. He should be executed, it would be unfair for someone who killed thousands of people not to die but for someone who kills only twenty to.
