Personally I thought Troy was the biggest copy of Gladiator ever, same style, music and it was just too much like Gladiator. I didn't feel for the characters one bit in Troy whereas in Gladiator I was almost in tears at the end. I enjoy Gladiator much more.

What one did you prefer and why?

Gladiator kicked Troy's arse all over the show. Ok - Troy was based on a real book and all that crap but it was still a weak Hollywood blockbuster of the usual form - bad (or should that be Brad) acting and it was basically action all the way through (apart from the start).

Gladiator was one of those true rarities. A film which has plenty of action, but also a watertight plot and superb acting. That's why it won so many oscars. Another one in that vein is Master and Commander. During that whole film there's not a pesky woman in sight - but it doesn't even feel gay either. And they're sailors!

Pete: Christianity isn't full of massive battles and epic love stories. The Crusades don't even compare.

Gladiator, because it DIDN'T have a 2,700 year-old poem to piss over.

Not true, that's saying that the bible was written when Christ was 4.
Sorry, I just like to be overly-critical. I personally thought both movies were way too glossed over. Meanwhile, Brazil is the greatest film ever made.

I didnt see Troy, and that was a conscious move because it looked so bad from the ads. And the first thing I noticed when I first saw the ad was that they used the same music as Gladiator, which I thought was a poor move, because since Gladiator was such a massive success the music really belonged to that now.

Gladiator is one of my favourite movies of all time. In fact, I might watch it again today.

I liked Troy... but then again it's easy to like movies when you get to see them for free, and a day before everyone else. Oh, the perks of theatre work. ^^

In my oppinion Troy doesn't compare to Gladiator. Gladiator would have to be one of best action movies in recent times. While Troy was an alright movie, I don't think it compared.

They both sucked. There, that solves everything!

Actually, Troy (one of many Troy-based books) was a lot better then the movie. The movie was typicle Hollywood trash. They have to spruce everything up with more sex and volience...Of course Troy was a battle over a women...
