Preview A game idea I had recently.

The player takes control of an ordinary frog that eventually has more than he can handle under his "belt."

The game will focus on action/adventure (zelda-ish) elements with a bit of RPG (level up system etc.) thrown in.

First enemy design courtesy of Jason/Mistajaye.

I skethed the first image in 10 seconds and he adapted the enemy from that. I accidentally deleted the one with basic colors applied.

Had time to work on the game a bit more.

Updates include:

A possible HUD "Portrait"

Breakable rocks

Armor perks added:
Cape = Higher jumping and slower falling when you hold a button.
Steel Legs = Enable use of pound. You can break rocks with pound.
Helmet = You can break rocks with your head.

Elemental Flies
Electric Added (effect is temporary) - no abilities added yet
Earth Added (no effect yet) - Causes a quake when you use pound. Can trigger seismic platforms to benefit your travels. - See end of video

Just got another "new" computer. My other one died on me . . . some hardware problem that I don't feel like troubleshooting. The OS (no matter which hd I use) keeps slowly getting corrupted. I tried a repair install and the partition is "unknown" - didn't check bios config due to lack of time. Haven't slaved it yet either so I can't pull the source off.

So once again I am trying to cope with it for now and just work with what resources I have.

Have a possible HUD portrait of none other than the frog himself.

Edit:

Kinda back on track now. I managed to repair my hard-drive well enough so that I can actually access the files on it. Managed to backup all of my important files, including the frog source and more =].

Haven't had much time to work, but i'm trying not to quit so I decided to do some work for the first area to keep me motivated/interested.

I just noticed that I don't have a HUD, but thats not much of a worry for me at the moment.

Current Features

Current features include

Basic movement - Jumping Left/Right + higher jumping while holding shift.

Basic armor implementation (looks only - no stats yet).

Armor progression will be similar to Link to the Past. Once you gain a new armor, it stays. You gain each piece of armor in a certain order as the game progresses.

Most pieces of armor have a different effect.

Current armor planned in order
-Blue Shirt = Adds Def
-Cape = Adds Def + Slower Falling
-Steel Legs = Enable use of "Pound"
-Bone Helm = Break stuff with your head

Basic ability implementation (1 ability so far)

In the game, "Frog" will encounter flies. Eating these flies will restore some health. There are also Elemental flies that will join you on your journey (usually/probably after you rescue them from bosses). Each fly will grant you a different ability upon eating it. An elemental fly will reappear after the effect has worn off so abilities can be used an infinite number of times.

There is an example in the video and in the screenshots. The Fire elemental fly causes "Frog" to erupt into flames, and jump really fast. It also enables him to jump in/over lava pits and through fires.
