Project Overview
Preview The Daily Click is coming to its tenth year online, supporting the click community to share, discuss, and develop their skills, projects, and knowledge with other budding indie and homebrew developers. It's about time TDC was brought up to standard, and we'd like your feedback on how you'd like the new site to work, feel, look, and function - it's your community, so help us build the number 1 source of everything click and homebrew.

I tried to emulate our current set while also making them feel updated. Feedback, me hearties! If I'm not mistaken, SiLVERFIRE will be completing a set for competition as well, so keep an eye out.

So a few of you had some questions regarding the new Daily Click - so I've tried to answer them as best as I can!

Will the size of one page be smaller than 2 megabyte this time? - Blue66
Pages should load much quicker just because of the switch to PHP (hopefully!). We can't guarantee what the final "file-size" will be, but loading times should improve on all devices.

How will it make TDC better? - aphant
Quicker loading times and a more enjoyable experience - hopefully! The current site has become a bit sluggish and the user interface isn't always the best - the new site gives us a chance to improve this and make navigating the site more enjoyable.

But are you porting any of the old content over? - Duncan
All content will be carried over. We're able to grab the data from the current database and import it into a MySQL database - so that's not a problem. Some data may or may not be used - but important content like comments, downloads, forum posts etc. will all be available on the new website.

Its taken this long to get to 0 and all you can do is announce it? - Adam
It's been a fairly big job, and one that Clubby and myself have had to juggle with our own full time jobs! So it hasn't been a quick development process - we also don't want to rush anything so that we can try and get it absolutely perfect!

When can we expect to see the site go live? - Oddball Hagar
We can't be too sure, but we expect some time this year. Hopefully before September, but worst case scenario would be late 2011.

Can I also keep my fake accounts? - Hayo
Of course!

Could it be possible to keep the old layout? - MasterM
To carry over the current layout exactly may not be possible. It may be possible to develop a skin which could fill the whole screen like the current layout does. The new site will support skins if you don't like the colours of the default skin - however none of the current skins can be directly carried over.
