Project Overview
Preview This is just a "test game" that I experiment with. This is basically how I learn stuff.

The game is going to be a platformer with eight worlds and each world has at least four levels in it. The first world(that I am still developing) will be all tutorial levels, showing the player what to do and how to do it.

Controls:
- A and D > Left and Right
- Space > Jump
- R > Restart Level
- Mouse > Aim and shoot the Popsicle Launcher

It is being developed using Multimedia Fusion 2 with Wine on Ubuntu Linux.

It's kinda been abandoned, but sometimes when I am bored I add random stuff to it.

Day 5 & 6!
Posted 22nd Sep 11, by QuantumGames Post A Comment
Nothing.

I've been way to busy with other stuff and haven't had enough time and haven't felt like doing anything on it. I don't want it to feel like I HAVE to do something on it every day, or else it won't be fun any more!
Day 4!
Posted 20th Sep 11, by QuantumGames Post A Comment
Finished level 3! I perfected the shooting and collisions of the Popsicle launcher, and added a different ammo system. I started on the AI of the laser turret and it's starting to look better than it did last time! I'm trying to keep it so there's less than 900 objects on one level, because over 900 starts to lag on Wine(not too sure about Windows) and I want both Linux users and Windows users to be able to play it properly.

Well that's about it for today, a lot is planned for tomorrow!
Day 3
Posted 19th Sep 11, by QuantumGames Post A Comment
Today was a bad and good day.

First, my save got corrupted so I lost the entire level 3 and part of level 2. I also lost all of the AI for the laser enemy. This sucked, but made me work more.

Well I finished level 2, I re-planned some features. I'm going to make the laser turret on level 4 and the Popsicle shooter on level 3, so you can defend yourself against the turrets. It seems to make more sense now that I think about it.

Anywhore, I finished the Popsicle shooter, and added a new block thing. It's cracked stone, and it breaks when shot by a Popsicle. The texture was kinda obviously inspired by the cobblestone texture from minecraft. I also added a secret to do with the Popsicle shooter.

I am up until 1am again, I just can't stop working on the game! I spent an hour or so organizing my code, since there was different stuff all over the place, but I still need to clean up Level 1's code, but I really don't want to since it will take quite a while

The good part of today was that I got more stuff into the game than yesterday, and that there was an epic storm in my city/town place and there may be a stormy level with clouds and random lightning because of that!
Day 2 1/2!

It's currently 12:00am here, and I can't stop making the game!

I've made a new respawn system, since the last one was very buggy. I used to have to go to a screen that lets you go to the world selection or retry, but I found it a bit too much hassle since you could be dying a lot. I was inspired by Super Meat Boy to make the respawn system better. I made the player respawn instantly when you die, so if I add music, it won't stop it playing, and they player can keep their "flow" instead of waiting a while after dying.

I also made new spike blocks. These are in pretty much every platformer, but I felt like making them. They could use some improving on the graphics side of things, but they work perfectly.

I started on the laser turret AI. The laser turret will basically only shoot when it sees you, and when the laser hits you, you turn into a taco and respawn a few seconds later. The taco part was Blitz's idea. The AI is very simple, and doesn't take up much CPU at all! I still need to tweak some things, but it works for now.

Yeah that's it for today, I'm going to sleep now since it's too late to be thinking properly.
