Mid-mortem
Posted 29th Sep 10, by OMC
So. This game took a big blob of my time. Did you think I'd let it lie already?

Splotches did not win anything in the competition, but it did get an honorable mention! http://www.indiepubgames.com/news/3rd-independent-game-developers-competition-semi-finalists And I still have hope. I'm looking for XBLA and/or iPad development connections to keep porting options open. If you know any....

Splotches was given away for a day here: http://game.giveawayoftheday.com/splotches/
It got 8863 downloads and I got more feedback! I would recommend that place to anyone wanting some advertisement who is willing to let lots of people download the game for free. (You're compensated.)

And also, I have a list of things I have to do (bumped progress down to 98%). The big one is separating music and sound effects (still not sure of the best way to do that), but I also need to tidy up the editor's save menu and make more puzzles. Stuff like that.

Oh and, I've made almost no sales. Haven't really advertised it much though since it doesn't quite feel 100% for some reason. If you bought it, you will of course get free upgrades. And thanks again!

Anyway, thanks for reading! More smallish updates are sure to come.

Congratulations on getting an honorable mention! I'd say that's definitely something. Well done to everyone involved.

P.S. mid-mortem? eww.

I think a flash version of this game with a link to the full version would generate more sales.

I have a flash game with a link to my site and it generates about 10 hits a day. Of course if it were a good game it would prolly generate more.

We've been through why the flash concept isn't happening only about 40 times now.
