Weekly devlog #5

Time for another weekly devlog. This week was extra slow. T_T Xmas times 'n all.

Achieved this week:
- Sprited a new accessory (2 left)
- Started adjusting the test level's values, items and enemies to match that of the intended for the actual game level.
- Fixed a small bug related to throwing and ladders.
- Modified HUD graphics a bit at the top right. No more vertical text. (Let me know what you think! The ammo counter for the melee weapon DOES have a use btw, but let's save that detail for later, )

Other stuff:
In addition, there's been some planning regarding a crafting system. One of my testers suggested that instead of dropping bandaids the wasp enemies would drop stingers which could be traded... and that's where the whole crafting concept spawned. It's not a priority for now though, the crafting and trading location isn't one of the first levels, so I'll save that for later.

I can't remember if I mentioned it here before, but food in The Bubble is the local trade currency. Mainly because there's a very limited supply of it, and there's very little use for actual cash. It's best to save the food until you really need it, even though it can be used as a weak healing item as well.

I've also pondered about status effects and a general curative item for them, but nothing certain yet. We'll see.

I've been aiming to have the general game engine and inventory items done by the end of the year, but could be that I can't manage that. But I'm not far off either! Slowly, but surely...

Oh yeah, by the way:
I presume you DID check out the December Klikcast (click Klikcast at the top, etc). About halfway in the show there is a gameplay trailer of The Bubble. I'll upload it somewhere, like Youtube, later on, but too lazy to do that at this time. :3 Just check out the Klikcast, it's pretty funny overall, and there's some other neat games shown as well!

Nice, I think you can do this crafting system. Sounds interesting .

Yeah, I've actually made the inventory expansion for the crafting stuff already. I'm making enemies drop the stuff occasionally, and will do the actual crafting system later on, when I work on the area where the crafting happens.
