COMMENTS

CHRIS:

With the Sound category making up a fifth of the overall score, and with the dubious lack of sound, Santa Teachs Typing has perhaps shot itself in the foot a little. What Pixelthief has created is a pretty good attempt at an educational game in which the objective is to teach users how to type as quickly as possible. Words fall down from the top of the screen and stack up, and you are required to spell them correctly to eliminate them, and ensure that the pile of Christmas related words doesn't reach the top of the screen. Obviously, the better you do, the faster the words come down, but by about Level 3, the words drop at a rather alarming rate, and the difficulty increases sharply. Only the fastest fingers will survive! Once you inevitably "die" the game just stops. No high scores, nothing. This also dents the game, because I feel that aside from this, it's very well programmed, and for a while I did enjoy myself. There are two-colour, red and white graphics in the background which, while basic, are nicely animated and very stylised. Santa Teaches Typing is a competent entry, but it needed more work really.

ASSAULT ANDY:

  • Actually quite compelling and fun. Could have been fun if there was more feedback (sounds/visuals) for each time you got a word right.
  • Bad difficulty curve. Stage 1 is super easy, stage 3 is super hard.
  • No end screen.
  • Code is a mess, but intelligently put together.
  • This competition is open to all users of Clickteam products such as MMF, MMF2, TGF, TGF2, Click and Create, Klik and Play, and Jamagic. No other sources of entry are permitted to enter.
