COMMENTS

CHRIS:

An old-skool platformer here, with a little guest artwork from Dogzer, Tukkys Christmas is a simple, at least in concept, game where the objective is to reach the end of the stage without losing any lives. Enemies cannot be killed unless you are driving a vehicle, which means your platforming skills are going to be tested. Each level has a fairly strict time limit too, but it is possible to collect time bonuses, as well as a few other collectables, which their purpose, for some reason, is not documented. The graphics are pretty cute in their own chunky style, but perhaps a little basic, and I dislike the snow effects. Music is ok, although repetitive, but the gameplay really shines through. It's a very testing and addictive little game, and I found myself going back to it more than the other entrants. There are Christmassy elements too, although maybe more could have been done here. All in all, a very solid entry from Duncan.

ASSAULT ANDY:

  • So I found this game really hard. I did play it a lot to give it a fair go, but I don't see how I could get through the entire game. And I think that's its biggest flaw.
  • I don't know why you chose to make it so hard. The acceleration combined with the movement speed, short view distance and timed levels means that you must memorise the timing of when to press jump. You can't react to objects as they come since you will decelerate too slowly and/or the time will run out.
  • As mentioned, I didn't really like the acceleration on the movement. I got used to it though.
  • The music was great and made good use of stereo. Mixed well.
  • Graphics were nice and consistent and used good colours. The animations were cute and it all fitted together well. This game is a good example of how as long as your game has a certain graphical 'style' it will look good.
  • I had problems with lifts going up - sometimes I couldn't jump on them.
  • The code was a bit of a mess but no major bugs besides the lifts.
  • It was fun... just hard.
