General Poll #28
News posted 16th December, 2007 by Flava
What is the best Clickteam product ever?

A total of 147 people voted for this poll.

Well it seems that MMF2 is your most favoured Clickteam product ever, with a massive 78 votes. The original TGF came second with 25 votes and the original MMF came third with 21 votes. It seems that not many of you care for the new TGF2 however, which only received 2 votes. Click here to see all of the results.

.:THIS WEEK'S POLL:.

Which operating system do you use the most?

Well I recently read a discussion on the forums about people wanting MMF2 to run on Mac/Linux. So I thought this poll would be quite appropriate. I've given the latest versions of OSX and Windows as options, as well as the versions released before those. I also know that a certain somebody here likes Linux (I know there are certain builds of linux but I don't know the most popular and there are way too many). If you don't use any of those, then just click the other option.

Operating System Poll: I use Windows ME the most. Vista is really bad for being slow and unstable, and I am soon to replace it with Ubuntu.

Rating of MS systems:

XP > Windows ME > Windows 98 (IE bundling is a black point for you!) > Windows 3.11 > Windows 95 (3.11 beats it for stability) > DOS > Vista (Total poo!).

Vista = totally awesome

your crazy

Vista is for the most part, nothing like what people say it is, but if you use it 24/7, you will notice some issues between it and XP.

Personally though, I don't ever want to go back to the original Luna or Classic themes again. It has nothing to do with how they look, because I loved the Royal Blue theme from Media Center, but when it comes down to it, theres pretty much no redraw problems with Aero, and because of that, the OS just feels so more faster and stable.

If this was a poll for which OS I thought was better, I might still pick Windows XP, but for which one I use? Vista, and I have my own good reason. Aero.

Aero is poo ugly. Vista and stable? Don't make me laugh.

I will wait for Service Pack 1&2 before I even consider using Vista.
Its just a memory festing beast.Apart from DirectX 10 I don't see any reason to change from XP to Vista.

The best operating systems in my opinion are WinXP and Ubuntu for Linux.I use WinXP the most.

Leopard and XP fer me! The best combination. Both are very fast systems. Vista was just way too slow, cumbersome and nagging to be used as a primary OS.

No Windows 2K love!? Outside of 98se that was the best version of windows!

"Vista is for the most part, nothing like what people say it is"

Because they don't agree with what you say?

I had to remove it. My highest performing system (C2Q, 8800GTS etc) was so pants with Vista. I had to turn graphics down in games just to get the same performance as XP. That isn't worth it. No benefits on top of that so I'm back on XP on all my machines.

I selected Vista, as that is all I have avaliable to me right now. Hopefully in a week or two I'll be able to say I use Leopard.

Hold on someone said something about Aero in Vista. It's all I hear people talking about when the topic is Vista. Isn't it just that silly 3D tab thingy? (Unsure as I never use it) Is that it's only purpose?

Posted by LIJI 16th December, 2007

It's the Vista interface in general. The OMG GLASS stuff and similar.

Vista is for people who like to inflict pain upon themselves.

The aero theme has the transparent windows, true, but even if you shut the transparency off, it's still a hell of a lot better then Luna or Classic, for the shear reason that it uses DX10 to run the damn thing, it's optimized through video, as opposed to processor, which is what they should've done in the first place.

That's really the only reason why aero is attractive to me, it has nothing to do with the glass.

Sorry for the double post, but as far as memory goes. The only real way anyone can say that, is if they stare blankly at the processors menu, and notice that the ram is a lot higher on XP.

The mere fraction of performance loss, is worth it for an interface that's run through video, because I'd rather my windows move around correctly, then lose 0.5 seconds of processing and ram speed.

Customized Classic themes are the best.
People who love Aero has no taste in graphical design, sorry!
You should watch Linux Emerald themer. Awesome and as customizable as the Windows Classic theme.
You can make it look as Aero, and you can make it look like classic, and you can make it look the way you want!
And no, it doesn't use pre-rendered pixel graphics, only for titlebar buttons.

Posted by Dr. James MD 16th December, 2007

I'm using the Classic theme in XP. Takes up less room on the display. I mean I'm running 2 big monitors but I don't want them to be taken up by needlessly thicker menu bars and that!

Posted by LIJI 16th December, 2007

Agreed. The Luna theme is overly sized, mainly at the taskbar! (THE START BUTTON IS JUST HUGE!!!)
Well it's ugly anyway.

whats os x? never heard of em. dont use linux cause not sure mmf would run on em. Plus i have some other games that dont run on linux, like generals.

Posted by LIJI 17th December, 2007

Linux can run MMF2.
Also games.
Well it's not a surprising thing to say for someone who don't know what Macs are... <_<

Posted by Fadex 17th December, 2007

Well, I am actually working at Windows 98 so i clicked "other". W98 maybe isn't the best choice, but I don't care. Almost every game runs on it.

"Ubuntu for Linux"
*Ubuntu Linux
Ubuntu is not FOR Linux, Ubuntu IS a Linux distro.

I voted Linux. I run Windows like once a week to play some games like Portal.

No, Win98 SE? Or DOS?

I used those for a big part of my life.

Posted by alastair john jack 18th December, 2007

Windows ME for me, for the last 7 or so years.

POLLS THAT ASK RHETORICAL QUESTIONS ARE FUN

"No, Win98 SE? Or DOS?"

I'm a big fan of DOS. I grew up on Win3.11.
