Project Overview
Another World: Above the Blue Horizon

Story:

After escaping the prison on a large flying reptile scientist Lester Knight and his alien comrade return to the alien’s home village. Upon arrival the alien discovers that his village has been reduced to burning ruins and his people enslaved. After leaving an incapacitated Lester to recuperate he sets off back to the prison in an attempt to free the rest of his people. When Lester wakes he sees his alien friend in the distance heading back to the hell that they have just escaped. He decides he can’t let his alien friend carry this burden alone not after all they have been through together and so decides to find his own way back to the prison and help any way he can.

This game focuses on the time period during “Heart of the Alien” (ill fated sequel to Another World for Sega CD) the game will show you what happened when Lester was not on screen and show you how he got back into the prison and meet up once again with his alien friend.

The Game:

Above the Blue Horizon will have identical movement to the original game in terms of running, walking and jumping. I feel I have recreated the movement engine of AW near perfect much more impressive than my previous attempt earlier this year. The big difference between this and the original game is that I have created a new action feature which requires you to bash buttons in the correct order to perform tasks. (E.g. – Say someone throws a spear at you! You will be given a very short time period to key in the correct sequence that appears on the screen. If you enter it correctly you would duck and the spear would miss you. If you entered if incorrectly or ran out of time you would be hit by it and killed.) This is a feature which I saw in the PS2 game Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy for non UK people) which although is a simple way to play a game is very affective.

I am near completing the first act and will release it as a demo when its ready but it should not take too long as all the major programming is done and most of the graphics.

If you have not played my previous engine check it out to see the kind of thing I am trying to create. I’m not saying this is going to be like playing Another World because recreating the game play exactly would be impossible using current software. I might not be able to make it as good but I can at least make it different and its shaping up to be quite impressive and will defiantly appeal to Another World fans.
