Once again, I have hit a major snag causing development to come to a screeching halt. This time it's not due to the inability to implement features(the map loading problem that prompted this recode), but rather speed issues. Turns out that for all of my coding optimization I mentioned, as soon as I add good AI guys, the frame-rate begins to stutter, eventually reaching an unplayable state where it eventually crashes. The problem doesn't make much sense, either, considering I'm using the same AI code from last time.
So, it looks like I might have to recode the entire game again, this time focusing on AI speed increases. I probably won't be showing much of anything off for the next month or so, just to let everybody know. Hopefully I'll come back then with an update on things.
