1. The Bear Exists
Posted 10th Aug 08, by Introversity
Yeah, I've drawn up the bear and a pretty piece of ground. It's not much, but I told myself I'd take my time with this project and so progress will be a little slow.

I've started work on the platform engine. I've made a million of them before so I have a pretty good idea of how they work (I never use extensions, call me lazy or artistic, I don't care).

For no reason in particular, I've decided to make everything that will be made invisible appear orange in mmf2. Maybe it's just because I hate orange, and it's reassuring to know that there won't be any visible orange in the final game.

I've also written down a few ideas for the storyline as well as characters.

Story
There is no main character, but a few of them.
They're all in one town, which has been free of any evil creatures for the past few years. Nobody really knows why they left, but one thing will become abundantly clear: They're coming back.

Characters
Brown: The hero, as far as characters go, this guy is the main one in my mind. He's a master of elements, and if my Style system ends up working, then he'll be able to master either Fire, Ice or Electricity.

Blue: The anti-hero, this guys starts as Brown's friend and sidekick basically, but is swayed into helping the darker forces, believing them to be the good guys. He'll be a Physical fighter, who uses psychic powers to enhance his style.

Grey: The seeker, he starts out as a simple guard for the town, not that the town actually needs a guard since there are no creatures. He quickly undergoes a change that changes his personality dramatically. He is a master of the Sword, and also of Engineering.

Black: The villain, who is attempting to use dark forces to help out the village. His willingness to sacrifice the lives of bears makes him evil, I guess, although he's just trying to do the right thing. Uses Light powers or Dark powers depending on the Style system.

Umber: The destroyer, has a distorted view of the world. Umber is the controller of all the creatures in the world, and if this were a standard RPG he would be the main boss. He's playable as much as any other character, though. He uses a living form of Darkness as a weapon, but can also use Charms, depending on his style.

White: The champion, died defending the village a long time ago. But will he remain in his grave? Uses the opposite Style to Black.

Rat: The despised, a retarded bear who lives underground in the sewer system, and is hated by everyone after it became clear that he has no empathy at all. Uses physical attacks and later develops incredible power.

Purple: The lover, has feelings for Brown, but as of yet hasn't acted upon them. She places the lives of bears above all else and opposes Black strongly. Uses special powers to defend or support herself against enemies.

Yellow: The fool, is just confused about everything. Knows right from wrong, but has trouble reading people's motives. She has the most random magic or the most direct support magic, depending on Style.

Frog: Not in the first episode. Uses Earth and Water.

Sheep: Not in the first episode. Uses special forms of Charm and Sword.

So you will have bears as characters, any specific reason for this? Guess it might work out just fine, I've already decided that my favoutrite is Rat.
