Defense

Just some talking to myself to help me think

OK, attacks are straightforward. You just hit the guy. That's why it's boring to attack training dummies.

What makes it fun is the defense. I'm going to include two forms of defense - blocking and dodging.

Blocking is essentially putting your weapon in the way of the enemy's weapon. This is also split into two parts - deflection and halting the weapon.

Halts are what people do with shields or in taekwondo. This has the advantage of blocking almost all damage - but part the damage goes to the blocker. So if you block a punch to your face with your palm, your palm gets hurt. (Also, if the guy deals enough damage, your palm will hit your face )

Deflection is when you push the weapon elsewhere. It's a bit easier, but there's a chance that you could instead push a sword from hitting your jaw to hitting your neck.

Dodging is a lot harder. You need faster reflexes AND faster movement. I divide it into two types - evasion and soften.

Evasion is simply putting the attacked part out of the way. The good thing is that it could miss entirely. The bad thing is that if it doesn't miss, it'll probably hit with full force.

Softening the simplest form of any defense and the easiest. It's what most pro-sportsmen do. Instead of resisting the full force of damage, you move your body in the same direction as it. The punch will still hit you, but not as hard as it would otherwise. But you'll need a loose body to do it right.

So, in conclusion:
Halting: Someone stabs your face. You put your sword in the way of his dagger.
Deflection: Someone stabs your face. You push his dagger aside with your sword.
Evasion: Someone stabs your face. You duck, hoping that the dagger will miss your head completely.
Soften: Someone stabs your face. You move your head backwards, following the movement of the dagger, hoping that your face will be out of the way when it reaches you, or at least the damage will be reduced.

What's good about this game is if you don't like any of these extra detail, you could just set it on auto

I fail to see how this is "talking to yourself" . You may as well have just have called it a regular update.
