2001: A strange oddity
Posted 27th Jul 09, by Marko
Whilst looking through some old CD's yesterday evening i came across a jewel cased game, complete with front and back covers and a disc label saying Space Commander 3 - copyright Mark Radon 2001 - 2002; it turns out this appears to be a copy of Space Commander 3, a game i actually completed back in 2002.

There is a problem however.

For whatever reason when i load this into my laptop's CD tray it freezes and refuses to acknowledge the disc is even there! Why it is doing this is unknown and i will try to retrieve whatever is on the disc (hopefully the whole game!) in the next few days...

I love old forgotten treasures like this! If nothing else try to force it to make an ISO of the disc.

Oh and if it's just too scratched, put some toothpaste on it, spread it around with a rag, and then rinse it off and try again.

I'm remaking my first game too, but luckily, I've got all my moved to my current H Drive. Any chance you'll enter this into W3r3wolf's compo?

Oh my goodness! Awesome discovery, dude! I remember when me and my sis had at least 50 some old drawings drawn on MSpaint that we made back in 2004-06, and we wrote them to a cd called B.O.O.F. (Both Of Our Files). Thank goodness, because the beloved harddrive it was on got wiped! We lost the cd back in 2007 or so and just recovered it recently. I found it under some fabric- seriously, what are the odds of that? Me and my sis were thrilled.

I miss being 10-13... when the days were, more or less, the care free ones!

Haha, yeah life seemed less stressful when you're a kid, wish i could go back to my youth and just do it all again! For the old PC games if nothing else - Return to Zork, anyone?

Incidently, the CD is in perfect nick and defo has data on it, it's just Vista refuses to open it. I've had this with a CD before and can't remember what i did to get it to work, so i'll just pop over to my dad's later this week - he runs XP on his monster rig!
