CDP: Scrappers Caught; More New Build Details
Posted 10th Nov 12, by s-m-r
I've not been able to put much time at all into the game, but I do have progress to report.

There's a full buy-and-sell model supported in the game, with changing prices for each of the seven types of scrap. Right now there are mouse controls, but I'll implement keyboard controls in it before release...Personally I can't STAND it when games switch between mouse and keyboard for the menus and gameplay.

Oh, and my old hometown had some scrapper-related news I just learned about today. Turns out some city workers were selling scrap on the side, and were finally busted for it.

Here are some choice snippets:
"We will have zero tolerance for inappropriate behavior by DOT employees," said Khalil Zaied, the city's director of transportation. He responded to the investigation by pledging to fund an extra investigator in the inspector general's office who will focus exclusively on his agency...

And this one, regarding the testimony of a rat involved in the scandal:

...The employee also said that "this conduct had been occurring for years and that most crews engaged in this activity," the report stated. "Supervisors were aware of the conduct and may have even condoned it."...

It's funny that I heard about this, believe it or not, because it touches on the storyline I wanted to use for the finished game. To sum up, the player character is a hard-working public employee who decides to go rogue in an effort to finally escape the oppression of their corrupt superiors.
