How exactly do you define a mario wannabe?
I don't think this game has anything in common with the mario games or 8 bit game for that matter.
Unless any 2d game that isn't trying to shove a shed load of graphic effects down your throat is considered '8 bit' in which case it's one hell of a loose term nowadays.
If you've watched my videos and still think it's a mario game then you really need to play a few mario games.
You are way off the mark, this is nothing like Mario or Kirby - it's quite clearly a homage to The Newzealand Story, a quirky little platformer from the 16-bit era. And it's all the better for it!! I haven't noticed this game before and i like the look of it - there aren't many platform games that put me in a relaxed mood whilst playing it, and this game does it! Just downloaded the demo so i'll see how it plays........
Have i got to do something special on this demo coz after the main menu there is a blank frame and the character just falls down it! Gutted - i wanted to play this!!
@U.2 - It's a platformer game. I don't see how there are any other references to the series of Mario. There are many, many different platformers out there in the world that are truly excellent. Not all games need to reinvent a genre to be a good one.
As for the game in question, it really does look superb! I've just had a look through some of the most recent project pages and there is truly a large amount of games I look forward to seeing. Keep us up to date!
It's nice to see people making such positive comments this time! I was thinking of not updating the project page anymore because of the lack of response.
