Other than a washing list of graphics stuff what is this game actually about? What's the goal, are there enemies, is it story or score driven?

well, im really gonna start putting the actual level design and enemies/bosses as i go along, i focus on graphics and anim right now because, i need the character anim engine and physics/movement engine to work before anything else does

what i have planned is a story driven game, not heavily based, but it stills follows a story as you complete levels, and the levels are influenced by the story.
the goal will change as you go, different things will always have to be done, but the goal will pretty much be get somewhere or something, and go through puzzles with their own unique goals as you go along,
enemies will be present, but they are simply "there" like in megaman, they dont really do anything but get in your way and are fun to fight., some will possibly reverse the progress youve made on a puzzle, if you dont stop them, things like that. and their will be boss battles, but i plan on making them unique and not only "shoot the eye and dodge the bullets bosses" youll need to figure out how to beat them based on what youve learned in the level, i plan on adding vehicles too, maybe even multiplayer, and youll slowly gain new weapons capable of performing different tasks, some purely weapons, some purely tools, and some in between, youll get them by solving puzzles getting past bosses or MAYBE from sorta sidequests, those will be more for fun, like a chainsaw .
the game is about well, as i said puzzles, weapons, shootem up type fighting at some points, its pretty much like a zelda game in some aspects, but obviously not zelda, with ratchet and clank type crazyness,the game will have twitch based things, and skillbased things and puzzles mixed in.

the games story is still being made, i tend to form stories around characters and what they'll need to do in the game, so that story flows with gameplay rather than being forced upon it, thus leading to the gameplay needing to make room for the story
what i have in mind is you are this urnge(shorthand for orange lol) guy whos being sent to the mechanical planet at war with your planet for resources, this resource is that orange goo, and they need it to power their machines, which run on the steam emmited from this stuff when it dissintegrates or wtv (maybe burn or squish it i dunno yet). theyve exausted their supply and now want yours, which means you, a soldier out of many others, are being sent to the enemy planet as a resistance before they invade. quickly after training you are shot from a large cannon along with your commrades who are doing the same, to the neighboring planet, you land and your first mission is to destroy their launching cannons before they can invade your planet. and thats all i have till now

ill add this stuff officially to the page when im certain of what ill be doing, but for now this is all just ideas, im letting them ferment into bigger better things, as i go along, and thinking about artwork helps me shape a universe
