I. Info
----------------------------------------------
TURBO WADE was created out of my love for the old Nintendo Entertainment System. One night I was playing Solomon's Key & that's where the idea for this game started. The story is a simple one. You're Wade. The bad guy is Kez. He has stolen the magical diamonds that you need to collect.
I got the idea for the title by trying to think of a stupid name for the hero. Most heroes back
in the day had odd names. Then add turbo to it because only the best characters had super,
sonic, or something like that in their names.
If this game is a little too difficult for you, think out a strategy. Timing is everything. If
you're still having problems, message me, i'll help you out.

II. Story
----------------------------------------------
It's a simple one. You're Wade. The bad guy is Kez. He has stolen the magical diamonds that you
need to collect. Receive power ups along the way in the form of soft drinks, pizza, 1ups, & boots
to help you on your way.

III. Controls
----------------------------------------------
With this game you can use the keyboard or go into the "Stuff" menu & change the controls to
joystick.
**Arrow Keys or Directional Pad to move**
**Shift or first button on joystick to jump**
If you're like me & wanna use your NES controller with a USB hookup. You're gonna need a program
called JoyToKey. Search in Google, it's a free program. You will need this because the NES
controller doesn't recognize the buttons for this game except the directional pad. So to use it
properly: keep the controls to keyboard, then open up JoyToKey and set every key to the
controller. It's basically like using your controller as a mini keyboard.
If you have a more recent controller, then you can just change the settings to joystick & not
worry about downloading JoyToKey.
**Press the 1 or 2 key at the main menu to change the size of the screen**

IV. Hints
----------------------------------------------
I got one hint for you, but you're going to need it. If you hold down the jump button, Wade
will do some rapid jumping on blocks that are above each other. You will definitely need this
on the last level.

V. Credits
----------------------------------------------
Everything in this game was created by me, Steve McCall. From the music right down to the
graphics. So I want to thank me Who I really want to thank is Nintendo for making one of the
best systems ever, which I still play to this day more than any other system. You can't mess
with the classics.
No installers!
Good, nice retro feel, but I really don't like the spikes that randomly come from the ground and kill you--it's not really fair, and it doesn't make me want to keep trying if I know I can die from something beyond my control.
However it is a little slow for my liking.
Also it would have been nice if there was some clue as to which blocks have those spikes that shoot up when you stand on them.
Hmm, does anyone else have this lvl 1 bug that Toxic Avenger was talkin about?
Heh. I know you guys love those spikes I was just tryin to add the old school toughness NES used to have. Remember how hard those games were? I wanted it to be a challenge. Almost like a memorization of where & where not to go.
Sorry about the installer too. I didn't know you guys didn't like those. I will keep all of this in mind for the next games I make. I'll also try and get a non-installer file up too.
Some graphics are weird, for example the title screen graphic only seems "semi-pixelated" while there are still some pixels in unexpected places. Some colours are also not too fitting assuming this has to act like a NES game.
Death is completely unexpected and relies on luck and remembering where traps are rather than dodging.
I wouldn't expect some things to kill me. For example, sure, the statues' fireballs kill you, but the statues themselves? Not likely.
The sound made when winning a level is kinda annoying.
You definitely have the NES thing down in your engine. But I think it was a bit too hard - couldn't even get past the second level. Maybe take out the fireball dude for the first 2-3 levels so people get used to the spikes?
