Åhktan is a side scrolling action shooter.

"In Åhktan you take the role as Jack H Diesel, a janitor employed at a top secret govermental science facility.
During his many years in janitorial service for the company he's been unintentionaly sucked into the secrets and lies surrounding the project. One day one of the headscientists named "Xela" starts an uprising and starts to kill other employees with his loyal army of zombies and robots. Jack knows what has to be done, and without fear he heads out on the most dangerous and terrifying experience of his life. He's going to get Xela, no matter what!"

Well this is one game where trying to skip enemies is NOT advisable I think I end up dying 20 times on the first screen, haha. Some of the enemies were VERY annoying, and tbh I usually end up trying to skip them and dying rather than actually trying to kill them. But I'm not one of those idiots giving negative score to a game just because "it was too hard" or anything.

Great music (midi metal ftw!), great graphics, good (but somewhat..erh annoying I guess) gameplay. Overall a good team effort. Another personal opinion about the graphics is that it was a bit too largly scaled for my liking.

It's fun to see so many swedes uploading games here

I WANTED to like it SO badly...but the gameplay is just too unpredictable, too arbitrary. Enemies would spawn right at the screen limits, so that I'd turn around where there was no one and suddenly there'd be guys...it makes no sense, and I have no sense of accomplishment, progression, or saftey. If killing enemies doesn't really do anything, then what's the point? I want to feel like I'm thinning the hoards a little. Other than that, the graphics, music, and style were pretty sweet--I really like the pole and streetlights in the foreground. But I can't bring myself to play it any more, it's too frustrating having enemies spawn behind me without warning...

When I first played Åhktan i must say it was a hard game. I died a couple of times and cursed the game untill the oldschool reflexes from the nes/snes time finally returned. Åhktan is a study in throwing yourself on the bed sobbing everytime you die but it is never because of poor design decisions or because the game is unfair. It is always because of mistakes I make as a player. Always a area where you are too much in a hurry to stop for a moment, read the enemies pattern, and then carry on instead of trying to rush the game. I think the game works a lot like old classics like mega man, contra and castlevania in the way that you are rewarded as a player when you actually concentrate and learn how enemies move in a way that are nowhere to be seen today in commercial games which can be breezed through blindfolded because it should appeal to the mainstream. There is absolutely no doubt about the grade for Åhktan and i'm excited to play your next game Papa Mike. Keep up the good work!

Downloaded the game right now and it reminded me of Contra and Mega Man but in another way and I've always liked these kind of games in my life. Maybe because it's hard. The graphics looks great, it sounds great and the gameplay is flawless. This is a game you want to have in your desktop just to pick up and play and kill some time. Great work.

And we kinda knew the game wouldn't be for everyone. No one so far have said it was easy, infact almost everyone think it is hard.

But the whole point of the projekt was not to make a innovative game, just a pure action experience to learn MMF2 for future use.

BTW, there is also a cheat button in the game. If you press the 'Å' button you will skipp to the next level (only works on scandinavian keyboards tho)

First of the title music is really amazing and the overall sound is quite good. The game itself thou is kinda... normal and with a few things that could have been done better, but still very entertaining when you get in to it.

Anyhow I find myself staring att the title screen listening to the music and put quite some effort to completing the game so thumbs up!

Answer to Dustin Gunn:
No I did not create new accounts to do anything. Wouldn't that show in the ip or something? I did however link this site to a few friends to download the game. And obviously some of them voted 5 because they know me.

However, the majority of the voters are people I don't know and might be a result of me promoting the game on other sites, such as youtube.

Glad to see lots of people downloading and testing the game. As always I'm most happy for all kind of feedback that could help me improve my future projects .

the graphics are nice but the respawning enemies really spoil the whole thing.

Jep it's a hard game but it's suppose to that way. Anyway I can't really rate this game because I was in the team that made this game. But it is fun that people like the game even with it's flaws.

Nice game. I see the megaman similarity. I couldn't figure out how to jump high enough at some points. Also its weird that the enemies get a partial invincible period after shooting them the first time so you cant just nail them with two bullets.

I do not think you can do that... But I might update the download on monday with a new button. If so I'll make sure to post what button here.

Good little game, i can see you guys have put alot of effort into this! Unfortunaltly my vote goes too War of Antarctica as i think that just has the edge!
