TREASURE HUNTER MAN

Old project, new release. This is a game I stopped working on a while ago even though it was almost done. The last levels aren't what I wanted them to be, but oh well.

In THM, your goal is to explore an island and find lots of treasures in ruins and temples and so on along the way. As you gain new abilities, you can access new areas and more. As usual it's a pretty short game.

I think I fix most bugs, but the game is still sort of a beta so it might do something stupid, But nothing game-breaking. I hope.

oh wow, this game is quite fun so far!
other than starting with such little life, and having to redo areas over and over again this is quite good!
Quite well produced especially in terms of graphics and general coding.

Very well made game, polished and it would be awesome if it wasn't so hard. Too little HP in my opinion, I couldn't beat the sun temple boss after about 5 tries so I gave up, at least for now.

There were moments of awesome, but the RAGE of DYING SO MUCH made me enjoy it less.

Still, awesome quality - maybe add a add 10000000 HP key so I can beat it?

Actually, I think I could make an 'easy' option with 3 HP or something at the start. What do you think?

Okeys! I added an easy mode with 4 HP at the start. And you can find one more heart container now! But you have to restart to get into easy mode.

I played until i found the eye-item! Since i was playing through Win-rar i think i lost the save. It took a little too long time to collect the 100 gold in my oppinion. and now i don't know where to go, and it takes long time to scan the whole world with the eye. a little hint?

Great game! sucked me right in to it! The two lives wasn't that hard if you just took it easy!

HINTS:

-Paying the 100 gold will help a lot. The stone thingies contain hints most of the time.

-Visit the cellar in the town a little later on when you have more abilities.

-An important treasure is hidden at the great wall.

-You'll be told by a stone tablet when to use the eye.

-Mind the sad flower in the dark, dark desert.

More detailed hints through PM only.

I find the dialogue in this game pretty hilarious. As always the simple but lovely bernie graphics are present. I'm actually enjoying this more than any of your other platformers, little tough tho. Will rate when I've played more.

I don't know if it's only just me, but in the sun tower thing, the first dungeon, the button things you've got to stump on don't stay pressed if I leave the frame. I'm playing easy mode.

Woo! Awesome game! I spent ages trying to get out from the boomerang chamber and after I got out I discovered how to throw upwards...

Anyways, this game is awesome, for some reason i hate slower games, but this game seemed to get it right, it reminds me if Zelda was a side-scroller, (not like Zelda 2)
But im going to rate after i play more... a lot more! !!!

Edron: Okay! It CAN be a little misleading, I guess.

By the way - the game isn't exactly abandonware. It's finished, has 2 endings and all treasures can be found. It's just not as big as I wanted it to be from the beginning.

Fullscreen mode doesn't work for me - I had to restart my computer after not being able to play or even exit with alt+F4, ctrl+alt+del etc.

However, it's still a *very* good game windowed. The gameplay is great and I love the general atmosphere.

Sketchy: tried the 640x480 fullscreen mode? And the game is exited by pressing ESC. If you press it in the menu, the game quits. Are you running vista?

Yeah, I tried 640x480 fullscreen. I get part of the game - like with the top and bottom cut off I think - and the windows start button (really big cos of the resolution). I get the hourglass cursor which I can move, but nothing happens if I click. Nothing I press on the keyboard has any effect, but there are no keyboard error beeps either. I'm running XP.

It's not such a big deal - doesn't really spoil my enjoyment that much.

this game is by no means short as you stated in the description, its also a challenge!

Alright, I got the bad ending! Not sure what I'm missing to get the good one though, my inventory is full and I have the fire sword etc.

thetdcnewb: Just running/gliding does the trick here. (you can't get in there without the bandana, so you must have it.)

Ben: You can turn one of your objects in your inventory into something else. But to do so you need to find a special place in the sky.

Introversity: The sun cave is the first (cellar doesn't count as a dungeon; too small). The one accessed at the Great Wall is the second.

The game looks great and plays well and sounds good, but the thing that annoys me in your games is that they lack some kind of 'edge'. I mean, the sounds are a bit too silent, and overall even the boss musics are too calm and sometimes even happy. The platform system you've implemented has always been great, but again, the gravity, movement - quite much everything is quite slow and calm, which IMO doesn't always fit this kind of games. Though this is only my opinion x)

Erm. I'm kinda stuck with the last (?) boss (the blue head). Any hints? I have 4 HP.

I'm only missing one object from the inventory. Where to use the green cloth and the cat? Help!

I think I get what Hempuli is trying to say. For example take Noitu Love 2, It also has "happy" graphics but the music in a boss stage is anything but happy or soothing... It hypes you up, and thats what this game is missing. its still worth 5 stars so dont get me wrong. I'll rate when I've played some more.

Ok. I figured out a tactic with the final boss, but I got the bad ending.

Then I went into exploring the world again, found two more chests that I really don't need and the final snake. Yahoo! I also found a place where all the snakes need to be used (?), but it doesn't seem to have an effect on the ending. Am I missing something? Gah.

Also, I found a sword upgrade too. I'm pretty sure I got it all...except where the tribal scarf is used.

I'll private message you...or maybe you already wrote a walkthrough.

Now I kinda regret for my 4 stars. This is 5 stars all the way. Long, challenging, funny, varied, surprising...excellent.

I still like your adventure games more.

Awesome graphics (of course) and presentation. I also like the way your NPCs berate the hell out of the Treasure Hunter man, funny stuff.

The ONLY thing that sort of gets a bit annoying is the slight but noticable pause that sits between pressing the attack button and when you actually attack something. I'm guessing this has to do with the game's controls where pressing and holding the attack button also lets him run faster but it's annoying when you can't count on your blade to attack exactly when you need it 100% of the time.

Still, 4 stars easy!

BY THE WAY: I fixed a bug concerning the secret puzzle. Please re-download if you wanna get the good ending. You can get it without the new version, but you must not use the eye item beforehand.

Finally got the "good" ending. Couldn't get it earlier because of a bug.

Anyway, it's quite funny. I think most people will be surprised by it. Or not. Damn those islanders!

P.S.

I really don't know what's people's gripe with the music. I think it's great and always suits the setting. The boss themes are quite appropriate to me. I'm baffled.

I suppose it's due to the "fall-of-pier-and-not-lose-a-life-bugfix", but if you try and fall down into the cellar now you lose a life and respawn on the pier. Yeah, 666.

After playing a few hours though, I gotta say this falls down the same design of pretty much EVERY faind game I've seen; the graphics are amazing, the presentation is great, music is great, but the gameplay is lackluster. Its extremely basic platforming, and I really think games like this could be something amazing if they added some higher scale programming. There aren't any better drawn klik games, but the gameplay never goes beyond the extreme basic. Still great and playable overall. Just room to improve

I beat the boar boss, now i have the running shoes.

I got all the way to the right of the forest and there is a tent guy who says i need 100 coins to learn how to read the stone tablets...

Now if i need to get 100 coins to continue that is just plain ridiculous.

I've tryed using the Jumpy Flower to get onto the wall above the tent guy but i keep missing, what the heck do i do now!?

Martin, there is a wall you can destroy if you just explore. I thought you liked exploration games?

Anyway, this is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE click game! But I can't get passed the silver desert. I'm in the Great wall, and if you go to the right there's the desert...

Ok please forgive me everyone, but how the hell is the sword so I can get past the guard in the very first level? I can't figure this first secret out! so I'm stuck in the very beginning of the game!

I'm completely stuck! I just got the see-invisible-stuff orb and have only found two dungeons. I lack two treasures (probably eels). I'm clueless, I'm just walking around in the game without finding anything useful!

this game was freakin awesome. but i cant get the real endin. i got the three eels, the cat, the feather, the flame sword, scarf, eye, heart, and sun idol. im only missin one item. dont know where to use the eels, the cat, or the scarf. help me out here some one plz. i have been through all the worlds over and over again usin the eye everywhere. much appreciated
