Are you bored of Windows Minesweeper or do you still have the old Windows XP version? Then this will be for you!

BOoM Brothers! bringt back the classic Minesweeper gameplay. Race against the time to clear the gamefield from mines.

Features:
- HD Graphics up to 1920*1200 in Screen resolution in highest Game Mode & Settings
- 5 Difficult Levels from easy to impossible
- Custom Gameplay: you can setup the grid and the number of bombs for yourself

How to Play:
Left click on the grid area to reveal the field. If the field was emtpy and is connected to other emtpy fields it will reavel those aswell. Right click a field to toggle it as a possible mine field. Marked fields cannot be left clicked.

You win when you have discovered all the hidden fields.

This is the Preview Version of the final Game. It's work in progress and I release it to get some feedback on controls, gameplay and graphics.

It only has the classic gameplay mode and no highscores, sound and music and lacks most animations.

The final game will feature:

- 3 gameplay modes with extra features that will enhance the gameplay such as time trial, casual gaming with lifes & scores and bonus items to discover
- Full Achievement System, play to earn advantages in different game modes
- additional animations, the bomb on top will be animated and comment on your progress be prepared for some comments
- highscores will be available and encrypted

If you setup a grid make sure your Desktop Resolution is high enough. Read the instructions on the Settings Confirmation Dialog. There is no check right now to prevent bigger gamemaps then your Desktop Resolution is capable of. This will be in the final game.

Please leave some comments while you play!

I forget to tell:

You need .NET Framework 2.0 installed as I use Greyhill's .net Extensions.

Posted by steve 16th June, 2009

..uhhhh right :S
Can't you include a zip with the right extensions?

Posted by maVado 17th June, 2009

Well It's the extensions that need .NET Framework on your PC to make the game work. I can't include the Framework. Get .NET Framework from either M$ site or via Windows Update.

Minesweeper!? ... WHY?

Posted by danjo 17th June, 2009

you could have made a pre-execute game, that checks if dot net is installed and offer to get it for you.

still QUITE a lot of trouble to go to, for a photoshop version of minesweeper.

looks nice. wont play it tho.

So what? Someone made recently a solitaire with fairies and stuff and no-one had nothing to complain. What's the problem?

Thats the Download link, that's all I can offer, you either download it or leave it

It's preinstalled on Vista and also on Windows 7.

I explain the "Why" in my comment on the newspost.

I initially planned this game to have a huge playfield. I can make it 140000x140000 in size with over 100k mines without a single frame to drop. the whole gameplay with a scrolling field turned out not so fun.

I made a small Rules Based Stepping AI and let it play over night on one of the bigger maps. It turned out that it finished the map after 9 hours, this includes a click each MMF2 loop without a single mistake. Well I guess I cannot find enough "nerds" to play and enjoy the game with these oversized settings

I think it's quite good, I don't know what these people are complaining about. Most of everyone here's games are clones of typical ideas anyway.

maVado, do you do freelance artwork?

"So... You made... Mine Sweeper? "
Yes, and you made NOTHING and just bitch at other peoples' games.

This is well made and the graphics are pretty cool, and it actually does take effort to code something like this.

Ouch Hayo, you told him right. Kudos, my man.

I'm not too big on mine sweeper, really. While it's fun every now and then, I can't play it consistently. Nonetheless I think you pulled it off nicely, but there could've been another, better game to remake. Now I won't say anything against this being minesweeper or anything to change your mind about what games you want to make. I liked the graphics a great deal. The interface was nice albeit slighty overcomplicated. Plus the New game button first appeared to me as more of a picture and I looked everywhere else for the new game button.

Overall I think it's a nice upgrade of Minesweeper with plenty of effort put into it, Props for that.

@OldManClayton

Yes I do. But my time is limited due to Burntime, just pm me if you need something.

Thanks for your comments, I have no problem if people do not like the game or gameplay, but at least give me some feedback I can work with to improve it.

@W3R3W00F, well it's just a WiP so most stuff is not in yet, the whole animation and voice over are missing. Sound and music. Just to name a few. I just quickly made it for Chaos who was testing it on max resolution for me.

Downloaded it, played it, REALLY enjoyed it! Just as easy to pick up and addictive to play as the original.

To nit-pick and offer some feedback...There were some interface things that confused me for a bit as I played. Switching game types, difficulty, etc. seemed a bit cumbersome, especially asking for the confirmation. It seemed to blend into the backgrounds; is there a way to use a pop-up confirmation window at the center of the screen, instead of on the sidebar?

Looking forward to hearing the music and other sound effects...!

I really enjoyed this game, but I didn't see a start new game button. That is my only complaint.

Besides that, it's awesome.

This is a pretty good version of minesweeper. I liked the graphics. Why use the .NET extension though? I could've made this with out any extensions.

Posted by maVado 23rd June, 2009

You could do it without extensions but there are the following downsides:

1. This uses Background Images to display all the tiles. It has a steady object count. I do not use a single active object in the game (besides the buttons to click on). Larger Fields means more objects.

2. It will bloat up the events, this just uses about 30 event lines for the whole gameplay to work

3. Pathfinding extension is faster then search on your own for attached fields and check values to the array. I have both coded, without the extension it produces a noticeable click lag.

I'm not saying its impossible, it just is slower, as I did it on my first engine build with actives and just an array search for connected fields.

Feel free to post your atempt, would love to see that
