Sorry but, thats a REALLY vague question. Rephrase your question with these things in it.
1. What program? If it is a CT program. List what it is; KnP, TGF, MMF 1.0-.5
2. Making a game? Perhaps a drawing program. Or something else, list if so.
3. Use proper grammar and english if neccesary.
4. Put more detail in each portion of the question.
Follow these points and the question should be answered reasonably well.
Well if you have an active you can use multiple frames and simply changes frames/animations at the push of a button... or you can use multiple actives and delete/recreate at the same point the object you want.
So when you click the button ethier:
a) change the frame/animation of the single object
OR
b) delete the object and create the new one at the same coordinates as the first.
Thanks, but the object is going to be moving around, so I don't know if the coordinates thing will work. I'll try doing the animations, though. Thanks again.
Hmm it seems like the animations aren't working either. Here's an explanation... Okay, say Bob changes into Joe's stopped animation when I press Ctrl. Then when Joe tries to walk, he's still in his stopped animation but just sliding around. And when Joe shoots, he uses Bob's shooting animation instead. So how am I supposed to do this? Sorry I'm very inexperienced.
Replacing A with B: Set B at 0,0 from A. Set direction of B to direction of A. Set any alterable values/animations/whatever that you use of A in B. Destroy A.
Seriously, just try thinking a little more.
"Omg. Where did they get the idea to not use army guys? Are they taking drugs?" --Tim Schafer on originality in videogames
In the event editor click "button is clicked" and for the actions select "create object A at 0,0 from object B" the delete object B
"Actually sir, we found a tiny unicorn in your exhaust. It was jumping around poking holes in your gas tank." "Oh thank you I did not know that. A tiny unicorn? Wow."
"It's a game and it's TGF. And you should take your own advice and use proper english."
You shouldn't start new sentences with the word 'and'. Two words in a short sentence, especially in a conjunctive state should not be used. It's not incorrect but makes you look retarded. Instead it would look better to write, 'I am using TGF to make a Game.'
Upon pressing 'ctrl' set active1 to X,Y to X,Y of active2
Set direction of active1 to direction of active2
set values and blah blah whatever else to active 1 from active 2
destroy active2
thinking is like pong, it's easy, but you miss sometimes.

i don't want to drag this post off-topic, but if you're going to be ridiculously pedantic and lecture people, liquixcat, you should probably make sure you're right first... it's perfectly acceptable to start a sentence with "and", "but" or any other conjunction.
Yet again Pete comes to the rescue with some useless information.
Using flags might help (e.g. if flag 0 is on, set all animations to Guy 2, and if flag 0 is off set all animations to Guy 1), then just have an event to set the flag 0 on/off.
"Say you're hanging from a huge cliff at the top of mt. everest and a guy comes along and says he'll save you, and proceeds to throw religious pamphlets at you while simultaniously giving a sermon." - Dustin G
My sister has a masters degree in english, which by the way has rubbed off a lot on me. She says many people do it, but strictly speaking it is unacceptable. I was only 'lecturing' him because he was being inpolite. Possibly in the UK that is acceptable, but here it isn't proper. I also wasn't trying to be pedantic he was being rude about using 'proper english'.
Thank you though Pete!

If you don't care about filesize here's a solution.
Make "Bob" and "Whatshisname" two separate objects. Keep one of them invisible from the start. Let them have the same controls and make sure that there's an always event positioning them at the same spot as one another. If you use CPM this will work very well. Now you can have a flag that makes "bob" visible and the other guy invisible when the flag is on. Vice versa when the flag is off. Now you can just have an event which toggles this flag with the push of a button.

Isn't there an option called "switch objects"? You could just use this one, right?
