Alright, I've been working on this engine for quite a while, so, after adding MUCH to it, I think I need someone else to test it for bugs, and general feel of the engine.
http://bibinson.sitesled.com/my_distraction/my_distraction.zip
Basic rundown of the game: You're this little grey thingy who has been created by his almighty user to scavenge through the internet and get the lost data bla bla. So, open the chest to get data, and collect stray data. That's what those are. Shoot the locked chests a bunch of times before opening them.
Currently, these are the player's abilities:
-Jump (z)
-Jetpack (up)
-Crouch (down)
-Crawl (down+arrow)
-Semicrawl
-Shoot (x)
-slide (down+z)
-wallkick (arrow against wall+z)
About semicrawl... if you're crawling, and you go into an area, where you are not flush with the ceiling, but it is too high to stand, release up, and he'll stand up as tall as he can, sort of a mix between crawling and running.
Stuff seen here:
-Moving platforms
-Extensive scaling to add to simple animation to make it look smooth
-Seriously, ONLY four colors used. Total.
-Badly drawn fans that perform well
-Moving platforms are PUSHY- they will smash you against a wall if you're in their way
-Trampolines, small ones break after one use
-non-functional but fully-animated savepoint
Use Tab or F11 to switch between fullscreen or windowed. When in windowed mode, there is a little bar at the bottom of the screen. Click the first icon "__" to minimize the window. Click the second icon "==" to go back to fullscreen. On the far right, the X quits the game. The little "|" and "||" icon change the window size.
To pause, press escape, and use jump to navigate the menu. You can silence the ingame music and have the game play music from a CD, or silence all music.
Also, tell me what you think of the scaling used for his animations.

The animations are really cool (including the scaling thingy), and the engine is also very good. But when i minimize the game i cant get it to maximize again.
Oh sweet mary.

Yay! Any suggestions? The minimize bug doesn't occur for me, or my friends' computers so I'll look into that. By the way KlikMaster, my avatar is from the game

Seems okay. A bit awkward at times; maybe it's the control, but I guess I could get used to it. The scaling thing you've done with the character looks very nice, but it really clashes with the otherwise so retro feel.

An engine like this is screaming for a decent game to be made.
Nice job.
It seems you got a bit of inspiration from Lyle in cube sector.

Err, yeah, the character's style is based on this really old character I made, that looks quite a bit like lyle actually. Remember DNATG? That character is ooooold.

DNATG does not sound familiar to me, and it hurts my face when i try to pronounce it.
Actually there seems to be a bit of Cave story in there too stylewise. (That is a compliment too )

Played it, it's awesome I like the way you can make your character half-crouch under something

tried it for about 5 minutes, couldn't find anything wrong though. Seems like a really nice solid engine with lots of opportunities. very well done

"DNATG does not sound familiar to me, and it hurts my face when i try to pronounce it."
Don't worry, you're not supposed to say "D'naht'guh", but it stands for "Definetly Not a Tanooji Game" which was my christmas compo entry. It's in my profile.
